I have a belief that it’s inevitable we win. If I didn’t, I’d have a regular job. No late calls, nice benefits, no stress making payroll. But I made a decision to forgo a solid paycheck to build something bigger. So far it’s been a lot of sacrifice, but the past two years I’m starting to see things compound into tangible benefits. Feels good but almost necessary at this point since ever other day selling everything crosses my mind. Yet in 450 posts we’ve been able to amass 250k+ followers across social platforms. Making the posts were relatively easy. But the years it took for that content to exist feels like a lifetime. Feeling excited about the future is a baseline requirement for owning a business.

Hotel owners - this is the only acceptable setting. Guests - don't stay at hotels that knowingly overbook.

Took the advice of people much smarter than me. Hired a staffing agency to help us fill entry level roles. Could feel the pressure dissipate from our regional manager after the sales call. Hiring logistics can steal 10-20 hours out of her week. Now, fully qualified, vetted candidates would just appear on our door step... ...Except we are 0/3. 1 - Worked 7 hours then quit after saying the commute would be too expensive (lied about having a car) 2 - 9am start time, hotel messages at 9:15 asking if they were coming. They text the recruiter they are already onsite (they were not!). Eventually ghosts the recruiter. 3 - Agreed to a Sunday start but "got a flat tire" so pushed to Wednesday. 0.1% chance this one works out. If budget allows we drastically need to hire a dedicated HR/recruiter. Seems like a great excuse to try @HirePavago

0/4 Candidate we previously hired 2022, worked total of 26 hours. Then quit without notice. Eligible for rehire? NO!

Kelly Clarkson is NOT allowed to buy our $15,000 speed queen washing machine. But she can use our coin-op laundry. $2.00 wash or dry.

Moved to Iowa (from London) in the 4th grade. Kid asked me if I was a feather Indian or a red dot one. I didn’t get the feather reference so I said red dot 😂

If you like hotels, this is the most fun you'll have on X today, I promise. Let's play a game: Introducing "Who Am I? (A Hotel Edition)" Take the following 5 clues and name the hotel. No Googling, no asking ChatGPT, no texting your hotel nerd friends...scout's honor. Your clues: 1. I opened in 1887 as a ten-room bungalow, run by four Armenian brothers. 2. I'm named after a man who never stayed with me. He died 61 years before I opened. 3. My city fines people for littering. 4. My bar asks you to throw your peanut shells on the floor. 5. In 1902, a tiger was shot under my billiard room. Guess in the comments. Answer tomorrow!

Well run hotels do a full renovation every 10 years. Carpet, paint, furniture, lighting, etc. We renovated Indianola in 2019, so the clock is ticking. Kept the place spotless, but the signs are there. Most wont notice or care, but 3 lobby puck lights have burned out, rest are slowly dimming. Furniture is pretty dinged up and sections of concrete parking lot are failing. Starting to understand why owners let their property condition slide If you stay on top of maintenance, these things rarely show up in reviews. But without a full refresh, eventually the place just feels old and tired.

Spent the day installing cameras. Crazy how much drywall cutouts were left in the drop ceiling. Also found a power strip tied into an exit sign and a mouse trap. None of the cabling done after construction was put in j hooks or conduit. Guests will never see it, but it bothers the hell out of me for it to be so sloppy.

Got a behind the scenes tour of Iris from @nahuelhilal Arrived a few mins before open and it was already buzzing. As a hotel guy, was amazing to see the amount of hospitality and care put into this operation. Every part of the customer journey is meticulously crafted from the consult to the branded after care packages. Hard not to root for him, the hype is real! Also went car shopping but they didn’t have it in the right color so will stick to my model y 😅 Meet twitter friends irl!

No, no, no expedia 🤝 muse Expedia is easy for Muse and easy for me, but: the beauty of an agent is to be MY personal aggregator that books directly with the hotel, bypassing online travel agencies. If the agent just uses an OTA, it’s not my agent. It's another OTA. Direct book means I get hotel points, eventually elite perks like free breakfast and upgrades, and can beg to cancel when I missed the window. Don't give the agent the easy route, help me with the hard stuff.
pretty psyched about this one— expedia 🤝 muse we've seen travel be a breakout use case for muse, and excited to partner with expedia to make it seamless to go anywhere ✈️

Likelihood of this increases exponentially with the # of “departments” in a hotel. Every onsite team member should be cross trained on front desk, housekeeping, breakfast, etc. “That’s not my job” is toxic in hospitality.
Awful service by @MarriottBonvoy and the team in Boston's Copley Square. Checked out, realized I had 2 shirts still hanging in the closet. Called front desk and was told that I needed to submit a claim form and they couldn't do anything until the housekeeping manager came in. 3 days later and multiple calls and they finally said the manager was out a few days and would look into it. No response, had to place 8 calls to the hotel. Finally was told by the front desk after they gave excuses for a week that they were busy and working on a system upgrade that they went and checked and couldn't find the shirts. No kidding! They probably were taken out when the next guest stayed there. I could literally walk into the room and point within an inch where both were hanging. They just didn't care enough to try. Talked to Bonvoy support, who could've at this point given me a free night as a consolation prize that there was nothing they would do since the manager wasn't able to help. The property is a mess, parking was awful in the garage downstairs. Thanks @MarriottBonvoy for treating your loyalty members so well.

When Amazon blocked Muse, Shopify was smart to swoop in. Hotel platforms like @Cloudbeds need to do full court press to ensure they don’t become invisible to agent ecosystems. @AAHOA should obviously strongly support this and build the bridges to ensure it happens.
Sad day for hoteliers. @Muse and @AAHOA and others could be working directly. Hoteliers hate OTAs. They would jump at the opportunity to give @Meta a higher % than they’re getting from the OTAs. @alexandr_wang You have an opportunity to cut out the middle man and sign up 60% of the supply directly.

Looking for a plumber that is post economic.
I’ve helped quite a few people get into relationships now [even one marriage & 2 engagements] & the biggest thing I notice is people all have a long list of what they expect, but don’t have a clear picture of who they are or what they can offer to a partner. You can want whatever you want. But the person you choose must also choose you. Lots of comments bashing Brooke for wanting a ‘post economic’ guy. That’s actually not hard to find at all, especially somewhere like sf. Guys with money are a dime a dozen. Some people think they’re post economic at 10M though and some people at 500M. That should be clearly defined if it’s an important quality. A guy who is 35-42, never been married or engaged & has no kids, but is capable of/has the tools to be a good husband, is marriage minded and decidedly wants kids? Much much much less likely to find that than an affable, fit, billionaire. ps I would’ve commented directly on the post, but she has me blocked despite our only interactions ever being me congratulating her on runs. So - if that’s any indicator, personality may also be a challenge to finding a partner here.

Wait what? --- Booking data uses Ads Manager tags (with a 30-day lookback) on multiple websites. The tags report BRAND .com reservation confirmation page revenue via banner ad post impressions and click throughs, where post impressions account for almost all revenue reported.
