I had a letter in @thetimes today highlighting the risks to prison education that will result from cramming more cells into already overcrowded and under-resourced prisons.

This is typically excellent by @ShipleyWrites. And good to see the benefits of using ROTL to access education recognised.
Many, many more people could be accessing mainstream education via ROTL, building up the skills and qualifications they need to thrive when released.
The Mail wrote some absolute nonsense about prisoners working on ROTL yesterday. This is why they’re wrong. By me @spectator spectator.co.uk/article/dont…

"Almost all of the men here will return to their communities. It’s in all of our interests to ensure they leave prison in a better place than when they arrived."
Great read about @HMPHolmeHouse and what they're doing to give people the chance to change. chroniclelive.co.uk/news/nor…

Some good news: the employment rates for people leaving prison are going up 📈
If we want that to continue, we need to invest in high quality education to ensure that people leaving prison have the skills to find work & thrive in the workplace.

This is a great @Prison_Learning blog by @EstherKelly101 on how she became a prison teacher.
Good teaching is so important to the delivery of prison education and it's good to see the PLA highlighting routes into becoming a prison teacher.

Good to see HMP Academies expanding, offering more people in prison access to vocational training.
But to make them a success @MoJGovUK must also radically improve prison education, giving people the literacy & numeracy skills that all employers require.

A wonderful watch on #InternationalWomensDay 💜
It's amazing to think how many women's lives @Cleanbrk have changed since they started over 40 years ago.
On #InternationalWomensDay, meet the women using theatre to challenge our perceptions of the criminal justice system.
@CleanBrk is a women-led theatre company, founded in 1979 by two women in prison. See how they've inspired positive change for women in prison & the community.
