WORLD TOUR 2003 “ALL THE CRITICS LOVE U IN MELBOURNE” MELBOURNE, 10.22.2003 11 years after his last Australian shows, Prince returned to Australia for a remarkable run across Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane: 5 arena concerts and 4 late-night club performances. But for members of the NPG Music Club, the arenas were only part of the experience. Before the main show, they had access to a 45-minute pre-show and soundcheck, offering a rare glimpse of Prince and NPG. And then came the aftershows.... The Australian shows became a journey between two worlds: the spectacle of the arena and the freedom of the small club. Were you there in Australia? What are your favourite moments from this tour and shows? #melbourne #sydney #brisbane #australia #prince

WORLD TOUR 2003 — 23RD ANNIVERSARY PRINCE PERFORMS “BABY, I’M A STAR” On October 17, the World Tour 2003 opened at Harbour Fest in Hong Kong with no conventional album campaign behind it. Instead, this short & selective international run introduced a new configuration of the NPG and marked the beginning of another chapter in Prince’s ever-evolving musical journey. And when the festival stage went dark, the night was far from over. Prince and the NPG headed to The Edge for a late-night aftershow, trading the festival's scale for the immediacy of a club. It was a fitting beginning to a tour that would move freely between arena spectacle and after-hours intimacy. Hong Kong was only the beginning.....✌️ (With a little help and inspiration from fellow purple @iamslickrick01 — thx, Rick! 💜)

JANELLE MONÁE: “I WOULDN’T BE AS COMFORTABLE WITH WHO I AM IF IT HAD NOT BEEN FOR PRINCE.” For Janelle Monáe, Prince was more than a musical influence. He was a friend, a mentor, and an artist who encouraged her to embrace her individuality and remain true to herself. Prince had a remarkable ability to recognize originality in other artists and to encourage them to follow their own creative path. His influence was not simply about music, but about freedom, confidence, and the courage to be different.

ONLY PRINCE "YOU DON'T HAVE TO BE RICH, TO BE MONÁE" To celebrate the release of Janelle Monáe's The Electric Lady, Prince sent her a gift that could only come from him: a singing telegram. Rewriting the opening of his own classic "Kiss," Prince sang: "You don't have to be rich, to be Monáe..." Following their collaboration on "Givin' Em What They Love," Prince's tribute showed the admiration he had for Janelle, not with a press release or a quote, but with a song. Because Prince always said the most with music. #Prince

13 YEARS AGO TODAY — "GIVIN' EM WHAT THEY LOVE" Prince joined Janelle Monáe on "Givin' Em What They Love," the opening track from The Electric Lady. Released on September 10, 2013, it became Prince's only official studio collaboration with Janelle Monáe. Recorded at Paisley Park, the collaboration featured Prince on co-lead vocals, guitar, bass, production, and songwriting. "Prince is a friend, a mentor, and I was very honoured and humbled to have his presence on the album. That third verse on 'Givin' Em What They Love,' I wrote that for him." — Janelle Monáe
