A policy on paper is not yet change in a child’s life. Today in Kampala, MoES and KCCA in partnership with @earlyyearsCount are bringing ECCE proprietors and education stakeholders into the implementation conversation about Uganda’s ECCE Policy

The #EACREC2026 saw our very own Commissioner, Basic Education at the Ministry of Education and Sports, Dr. Cleophus Mugenyi (@CleophusMugenyi), participate as a panel discussant, lending Uganda's 🇺🇬voice to a pivotal regional education dialogue. Alongside delegates from eight East African nations, he contributed to answering the question: what would it take for the East African Community to move beyond policy promises and drive tangible, on-the-ground impact to finally secure education justice? #EduationForAll #SDG4 #EducationJustice #FoundationalLearning

The Permanent Secretary-level panel at #EACREC2026 brought a strong regional focus on what education transformation should look like in practice. The ambition is clear: by 2028, we should see more children reading, writing and counting at the expected level; better-supported teachers and stronger classroom practice; greater sharing of evidence and expertise; and education commitments translated into national plans, budgets and action. A key message from the discussion: “The surprise should not be the number of commitments we have made, but the number of commitments that we have been able to implement.” youtube.com/live/IaydCRAM41U… #IStand4Children @EACREC2026 @jumuiya

Uganda’s ECCE shift is system correction, not routine reform. ECCE has long existed in practice, but without coordinated standards or national structure. After over a decade of consultation, Uganda now moves toward a unified framework for quality and accountability.

Malnutrition during pregnancy and early childhood remains one of the most preventable and consequential threats to child development. Good infant nutrition starts with informed caregivers. Yesterday, parents from Anguowubo & Alibajiako Home Learning Centres (HLCs) in Terego District turned nutrition lessons into action by preparing healthy meals for pregnant mothers & children aged 0–6 using locally available foods. Facilitated by a nutritionist from Arua Regional Referral Hospital, the demonstrations will also be adapted into future parenting materials. Congrats to Alibajiako HLC for winning the friendly competition and to both centres for championing better nutrition and early childhood development. #Nutrition #Parenting #ECD #CommunityLedLearning

🚗 Investing in stronger education systems means investing in every child’s future. @PlanUganda donated a vehicle to the Office of the Commissioner, Basic Education, @Educ_SportsUg, to strengthen the Ministry’s capacity to facilitate Basic Education programmes and monitor the sustainability of interventions under the RISING Project. This support will enable more effective field monitoring, coordination and follow-up of education interventions, helping ensure that the gains made through the project continue to benefit children, schools and communities beyond the project period. By supporting the ministry, we are contributing to a more resilient and sustainable education system where every child has the opportunity to learn, lead, decide and thrive. 🤝 We remain committed to strengthening education systems, sustaining impact and creating opportunities for children especially girls to reach their full potential. #EducationForAll #GirlsEducation #EducationSystems #RISINGProject #UntilWeAreAllEqual #PlanInternationalUganda

Protecting children online starts with putting their rights first. At the launch of the #BeACyberHero campaign at @nextmediaug , @PlanUganda joined stakeholders in highlighting the urgent need to strengthen child online protection as children increasingly use digital spaces for learning, connection and opportunity. The discussion emphasised the importance of protecting children’s privacy, dignity and rights, including ensuring appropriate consent and safeguarding when their images, stories and videos are used by schools and institutions. It also reinforced the need for parents, schools and communities to equip children with the knowledge and confidence to recognise online risks and safely report concerns. At @PlanUganda, we remain committed to promoting safer, more inclusive digital spaces where every child can learn, connect and thrive. #BeACyberHero #ChildOnlineSafety #DigitalSafety
