This is a photograph of the British nuclear detonation on Trimoulle Island, a part of the Monte Bello Islands on 3rd October 1952. In 1990 I sailed out there as a part of a Secondary Extension and Challenge group at school and explored the islands. 1/ – at Cairns, Queensland
Going ashore with a Gieger Counter taking readings of abandoned structures and equipment su h as military Jeeps was a highlight. We also got to work tagging turtles, trapping rats and exploring Mutton Bird nests with CALM rangers who came with us. 3/ – at Cairns, Queensland
