ALT February is Black History Month, a time to reflect and celebrates Black community impact leaders, past and present. To not only acknowledge how they have been a substantial part of shaping our heritage and communities, but to celebrate it! Pride Niagara celebrates #BlackHistoryMonth by being a genuine ally and encourages others to do the same. This is an ongoing process, education and understanding of not only others and marginalized communities but ourselves. The 2024 theme for Black History Month is: “Black Excellence: A Heritage to Celebrate; a Future to Build”. This theme celebrates the rich past and present contributions and accomplishments of Black people in Canada, while aspiring to embrace new opportunities for the future. Pride Niagara asks everyone to encourage education and accountable thinking. Equity, diversity, and inclusion can only be successful when working in tangent.
