1/ In an ideal musical environment (nurture), youthful songwriters would NATURALLY grow up into legitimate composers. They're now stunted by unnatural emphasis on commercial "songs" to the exclusion of other musical forms and genres. #classicalmusic
"Wake" is a 2009 novel by Robert J. Sawyer, the first part of a trilogy. The story is a fictional account (!) about the Internet becoming self-aware, conscious.

The "Nature vs. Nurture" arguments can be reduced to one thing:
Genetics vs. Culture.
Genetic potential is there, but a culture may not be favoring it, or even sabotaging its development. (E.g., How many professional symphony orchestras are in Africa today?)
They flood the world with mediocrity so there's hardly room left for great art. You don't hear a classical composer played in the elevator or lounge of a public place, yet you would easily relax to, say, a Chopin nocturne record. Let's change it. #pianolessons
We guarantee that our world will never improve by following and supporting those who only tell us what we want to hear.
With a view to constructive rehabilitation, I suppose "deprogramming" could be considered a kind of reverse brainwashing, in the case of destructive, mind-controlling cultures. The latter operate as prison cells with invisible bars, entertainment as warden.
'Creating robotic clones' of humans instead of improving humans themselves is a tremendous waste of technology.
Apart from natural athletic endowment, musical potential is the same as languages. Everyone learns to speak, so anyone can learn to play piano and compose music, if encouraged in the properly immersive environment. "Anyone can cook." - Ratatouille (movie)
I heard about a group of Australian music students touring a US college music department. They said the music classes here were not bad, except they had already studied all that stuff back in high school. #pianolessons #musiceducation #ProfessionalGrowth
Relevant Curriculum
People accepted having to spend a year each studying algebra and geometry in high school (which they rarely use). They won't complain about having to spend a year or two in a piano classroom (which they will always use). #pianolessons
