It was my pleasure again to invite new faculty to my home to meet the College's leadership team over dinner. I'm looking forward to seeing to what new heights they will take us!
It was a pleasure to have @JazzforMaryland on campus today. We had a great conversation before he toured our beautiful campus. Come back anytime, Del. Lewis, and thank you for your continued strong support in the General Assembly.
As co-chair of the @CarnegieFdn Postsecondary Commission, I'm proud to present our latest paper, which advocates for outcome-driven, accessible education that connects learners with career opportunities. bit.ly/4b5kXS6
What a week we had to kick off the semester. We welcomed our newest Seahawks and continued a tradition of signing the President's Book; we celebrated the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. at the annual prayer celebration; and we had snow the night before classes began.
Heartfelt thanks to all who embraced SMCM's Giving Tuesday event. It was a remarkable show of support and helped contribute to our Taking the LEAD Campaign. We achieved tremendous success with over 4,000 donors generously contributing nearly $385,000 to support our students.
Welcome first year students! I love seeing the efforts of our student organizations, student-athletes and SMCM employees as they help make this day easier for our new Seahawks and their families.
As co-chair of the Carnegie Postsecondary Commission, I’m committed to making the
transformative power of postsecondary education accessible to all. Proud to be part of this initiative to shape policies that empower students, educators, and institutions. bit.ly/3X3fJ3z
Mayor Brandon Scott: A Busy Day In Baltimore via @forbes forbes.com/sites/richardfowl… Great story about @StMarysMD alum. Keep up the good work, @MayorBMScott !
I am #seahawkproud of the 150 @SMCM_alumni, students, faculty/staff, family members, and friends who gave back to their local communities through group and individual service projects in April for Bay to Bay Service Days. Thank you volunteers for all of your efforts!
I love living the life as a life-long learner! Last night I experienced the world through the eyes of Carrie Patterson, the Steven Muller Distinguished Professor in the Arts, with benefactor and friend Jill McGovern.
It was an honor to attend the Inaugural Ball for incoming Gov. Wes Moore @iamwesmoore , MD's first African American governor. I was proud to see several SMCM alumni & friends of the College e.g., Baltimore mayor @MayorBMScott '06 and Sen. @BenCardinforMD at this historic event.
Please join me in officially announcing and congratulating Katie Gantz as VP for Academic Affairs and Dean of Faculty. After a thorough and vigorous national search Katie emerged the clear choice for this crucial role. bit.ly/3Qg9vd7

Grateful to those who celebrated the second anniversary of the Commemorative to the Enslaved Peoples of Southern Maryland by observing The Sacred Journey: The Beloved Community. The past cannot be changed, the present requires that you hear, and the future demands that you act.
After a 2.5-year hiatus, it was great to host another Ask the President dinner with a few amazing @StMarysMD students last night. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, the future of the world is in wonderful hands! #SMCM #LifeIsGood
Big ideas and issues deserve thoughtful conversations. We had just that with a lively, informative, and at times entertaining discussion Friday night with our panel of national media figures on the future of Inalienable Rights. bit.ly/3MnCucU
Had the honor of welcoming Pulitzer-winning journalist Maria Hinojosa, inaugural speaker for Tuesday's Gwen Ifill lecture series. Tonight, a distinguished media panel comes to campus for a discussion on Inalienable Rights in the 21st Century. bit.ly/3MiUFki
