ALT Clipping: Staff kept awake worrying about people they support BY ALAN JONES UNISON is calling for more investment in public services after research showed workers are being kept awake at night by the thought of letting people down. A survey of more than 1,400 public sector staff found almost half in sectors such as health, social care, education and policing are losing sleep worrying about people who rely on them. Almost 90% added their work- Unison's chief Andrea Egan load has grown in the last year. Andrea Egan, general secretary of union Unison, said: "With so many losing sleep worrying about the people they support, the situation's impossible to ignore. The government must show up for public service staff in this year's Budget. "That means investing properly in the services communities rely on, improving staff pay to reverse the years of real-terms cuts, and delivering on the wave of insourcing Labour promised."
