"This is a male violence issue... the perpetrators of male violence are of all ages and stages, races and creeds."
Glasgow and Clyde Rape Crisis are warning they'll need to cut more services without fresh funding.
They've been forced to close their waiting lists. Some survivors already on them aren't being seen for over seven months.
It comes as sexual crimes hit their highest level on record in Scotland. A protest against this was held in Glasgow on Monday.
The charity's launched an urgent fundraising appeal in the hope of staving off cuts: glasgowclyderapecrisis.org.u…

In late 1976, a handful of brave Glaswegian women got a hold of a telephone and a room and started to take phone calls from women who had or were surviving rape and sexual abuse. GCRC began to operate then.
Kickstarting today, with our ‘For Her’ appeal, we plan to take the full year of our 50th Anniversary to honour her, be honest for her, and provide hope for her. We will assess how we have done in realising our appeal ambitions in November 2027.
For now, find out more including how to donate here-

Today's Programme for Government Outcome: the @ScotGovFM personally committed to tackling the epidemic of violence against women and girls, backed by a multi-year public health campaign.
He pledged to end the postcode lottery in support, so every woman and girl - wherever she lives - can get safe, sustainable, specialist help. The members of the SRCA welcome that.
But the proof's in the pudding. Delivering it takes long-term commitment and sustainable funding.
The SRCA stands ready to work with @scotgov so anyone who's raped or sexually assaulted gets high-quality specialist support, when they need it.
We've been clear in our meetings about the funding required. Now we wait for the forthcoming Scottish Budget to turn these promises into reality for survivors as soon as possible.
Today we will learn how the Programme for Government plans to follow through on the commitment from @ScotGovFM to make VAWG his personal promise to overcome in Scotland.
Here’s what we recommended he start with in order to begin to take on this crisis ⬇️
We will be dissappointed with anything less.

Led by our Director @claudiamacd, with the full support of @DioneWeir, the staff team and a passionate and dedicated board, we have worked tirelessly in the past year to ensure today's Programme for Government, led by @JohnSwinney @ScotGovFM, delivers for women and girls who are survivors of male sexual abuse and rape in Glasgow and Clyde. Warm words, bold statements and promises don't mean anything unless they're followed by the action needed. And that action must start today by ensuring survivors waiting for our help can get it immediately. They should never have to wait. They've waited too long already for the change needed in this country to curb the overwhelming levels of sexual violence present and tolerated in our culture. It's 2026. We should be doing better.

If you’re in the city centre today pop along and meet some of our team who are outside Buchanan Galleries to try raise some vital funds… hopefully the bright yellow t-shirts will help you get to us!
🚨🏴 Scotland’s cultural landscape is at risk of collapse, due to continued inaction and backtracking from the Scottish Government. Please join me in signing the @_CFTA petition to urge ministers to deliver on their arts funding pledges now. campaignforthearts.org/petit…
