The #TwinCities experienced a year unlike any other in 2020: #COVID19, the murder of #GeorgeFloyd, and the rioting that followed. Five years later, recovery remains uneven.
A Precarious State explores WHY, and what it will take to move forward.
Watch the premiere Thursday, Oct 2 at 7 p.m. on ABC stations throughout MN.

"There's just a different energy there…and they're proud that businesses are moving."
Darin Lynch – founder of Minneapolis-based e-commerce agency Irish Titan and a member of the Minnesota Chamber of Commerce Foundation – shares why he’s prioritizing growth in Austin, TX over Minnesota – and what signals pushed that decision.

Minnesota’s workforce is projected to grow 0.1% this decade. Texas: 10–15%. That’s a difference of more than 100-to-1 in workforce growth.
Darin Lynch explains how workforce trends and computer science education gaps shape what companies here can realistically hire for.
Darin is the founder of Irish Titan, an e-commerce agency launched in Minneapolis in 2004 – and a member of the Minnesota Chamber of Commerce Foundation.

Darin Lynch says the business climate in Minneapolis feels very different from when he started his company over 20 years ago – from new mandates to a growing sense that policy is being “done to” business owners rather than being created “with” them.

Minneapolis paid $280K to homeless encampment residents to clean their own sites —right next to a school. Few accepted any available housing solutions. Why do the DSA’s seemingly ‘compassionate’ policies keep failing the city’s most vulnerable?

Off-year elections.
Low turnout.
High impact.
We are currently in an off-year election cycle—when fewer voters typically participate, the stakes for policy and power can shift.
“Those who show up get to move the political agenda.”

A welcome insight amid an off-track conversation about funding. Thanks @annbauerwriter – the real story is in the documentary.

Problem here is the @StarTribune has it backward. The story is that business/arts/community leaders who funded a documentary about obviously deteriorating conditions in Minnesota are AFRAID to be identified, because of what might happen to them. Why is that?
The @StarTribune is asking who funded our investigation – instead of debating the facts we uncovered.
• No one they named funded this work
• This was not a work-for-hire
• Funders had zero editorial influence
Let’s argue facts, not rumors.

"I'm glad that a lot of people are going to be exposed to what's going on, and I'm glad to see Democrats are willing to step up and not only go and work and produce documentaries like this, but also speak out on what's been happening and how we need to change things in Minneapolis."

The DSA just quietly removed some of its most extreme platform goals.
No statement. No press release. Just gone.
We found the old version in the Internet Archives, and the rewrite says a lot.
