As a point guard on my 2k27 squad, I want to give my perspective on something that regularly comes up during the game. I want to preface this by saying that I am a pass-first guard that averages over 10 assists per game. So I am not a dribble spamming ball hog. So here it goes:
We do not need to hear āIām openā literally every time we come down the court. That provides nothing other than a distraction. By the time the point guard looks over to you when you announce how open you are, the defense has already recovered, and you are no longer āopenā. So that just burns a good 5 seconds off the shot clock by having to recover after realizing youāre not open and having to get back to doing my job.
Let the game come to you. The job of the point guard is to break down the defense and then make a pass that the defense has to recover/rotate to. Your job is to make quick and decisive moves. Shoot, drive, or swing the ball. Immediately. Weāre trying to create a crack in the defense and then exploit it. Itās not your time to stand there and dribble around while the defense recovers. That defeats the whole purpose of breaking down the defense in the first place.
If you play the game the right way, youāll get your shots. You donāt need to panic if you donāt receive the ball for three possessions in a row.

**1. Adrenaline affects shooting.**
Each boost spent subtracts 10 points from the rating used for that shot. An 85 becomes 75, 65, then 55 with none left, before other modifiers.
**2. Hot zones change the shot rating.**
Cold: ā2. Neutral: 0. Hot: +2. Lethal: +4. Those are rating points, not extra percentage points of makes.
**3. Being hot or cold matters separately.**
Frozen: ā6. Cold: ā3. Warm: +3. Hot or Takeover: +6 to the ratings in that skill group. This basic adjustment doesnāt boost Speed, Agility, Strength or Vertical.
**4. Some NBA roster players have a hidden contest advantage.**
Unfazed reduces contest strength. Examples include Curry and Lillard at 12%, Luka and Bird at 16%. That doesnāt mean 16% more makes.
**5. Certain shooting badge bonuses share a +30 cap.**
Their qualifying Bronze through Legend bonuses are +4, +8, +11, +15 and +19. Two qualifying +19 bonuses reach +30, not +38. This cap doesnāt cover every badge effect.
**6. Yes, getting taller above 7 feet can make threes harder.**
The researched height adjustment has no cut at 7ā²0ā³ or below, then roughly 7% at 7ā²1ā³, 12% at 7ā²2ā³ and 20% at 7ā²3ā³.
A 50% starting chance becomes about 46.5%, 44% or 40% from that factor alone.
**7. Meter off gives 10% more timing room.**
A 30 ms jumper or layup window becomes 33 ms. This researched bonus doesnāt apply to the skill-dunk meter.
**8. Active takeover can widen the window further.**
Shot Artist and Calibrated give +50% for threes and shots beyond 20 feet, or +45% for ordinary mid-range shots. With meter off, a qualifying 30 ms window becomes 49.5 ms. The ability has to be active.
**9. Low stamina lowers effective ratings.**
With longer-term fatigue fresh, the shooting penalty begins below 61.11% of ordinary yellow capacity. With both blue extensions, thatās 43.65% of the whole expanded meter.
An 85 Three-Point plays as about 83 at half ordinary capacity, 79 at a quarter and 32 at empty, from stamina alone. The last 10% of ordinary capacity adds a steep extra penalty.
