Last night, I hosted a dinner for the Essex Chambers of Commerce @EssexChambers, joined by the Secretary of State for Education @GillianKeegan, and the DCMS and DSIT Minister @JuliaLopezMP In Southend, we have over 9,000 SMEs. We had a high level discussion on supporting these outstanding businesses by boosting skills, creating apprentice opportunities and supporting small and medium sized enterprises in our local area. Funding more apprenticeship opportunities at every level and reducing bureaucracy in the apprenticeship system will keep our SMEs dynamic, allow them to respond to fast moving markets, and to attract a wide range of talent.
