🇨🇦📉 With fewer Canadians choosing to travel to the U.S. due to current political tensions, American ski resorts have seen a rapid decline in a prime market that used to drive skiers south every winter. ⛷️😬

I’m not doing less because I care less. I’m trying something different because I still care A LOT.🩵
Hey slalom, see you in @KillingtonMtn 👀
The photographer had to fly the drone at full speed to make sure the skier didn't fly out of the frame wow!!

🇪🇺⛷️ 50% of American ski visitors to the Alps are booking at just three destinations – Les 3 Vallèes, Chamonix, and Zermatt. 🤔 Yet the region is home to more than 1,300 ski resorts. 😲 Don't overlook the others; there is endless great skiing to be had! 🏔️🔍

A very cold rain this morning in the high Wasatch. 36°F on Hidden Peak.

I thought today was going to be my fastest run of the season.
Fresh corduroy. Bluebird skies. Hardly another skier in sight.
Les 2 Alpes was absolutely perfect this morning.
The kind of conditions that make you think you've suddenly become a World Cup racer.
First turn felt incredible.
Second turn felt even better.
By the fifth turn I was carving so hard I started wondering if people on the chairlift were watching.
That's when I caught my reflection in a lift station window.
Turns out I wasn't carving.
I was snowplowing with confidence.

We have continued chances for showers through Saturday, which is nice, but we are lacking the cold air necessary for mountain snow. Maybe a very slight chance at the highest peaks late Saturday. But here's your reminder that it has been known to snow in September. 9/17/15

One fall on Harakiri becomes a two-skier collision.
On Harakiri, the person who falls is not the only skier in danger.
Mayrhofen lists this black run at up to a 78% gradient and warns that its artificial snow is often icy. Once you are sliding flat, your skis may no longer be able to bite, so speed builds before you can recover an edge.
What scares me most is the skier below, doing nothing reckless, who suddenly has nowhere to go. I hate seeing spacing treated as mere courtesy on terrain like this.
The real safety move happens earlier: slow down while your edges still grip, let the fall line clear, then leave room for an unexpected fall. (I wish more skiers treated that pause as part of the run.)
Would you wait longer at the top after seeing this?

⛷️ EVERY GREAT LINE STARTS WITH GOOD DECISION MAKING.
The skiing gets the attention, but it's the planning, route reading and commitment that make runs like this possible.
What's more important: speed or control?
