The members of Snap Photo Squad explored some back streets of New Westminster We think that they caught some very emblematic shots of the architectural variety and atmosphere of some of New West's oldest neighbourhoods. New Westminster is a diverse city with great photo subjects
Sangeeta Rekhi is a passionate painter and her specialty is winter landscapes. Sangeeta has produced many stunning paintings but this year is really special. As well, she has been working on a series of pottery pieces, an homage to Canadian painter Maude Lewis. Have look !
Our last Colour Collective studio day before next weeks Inclusion Art Show, and our studio is overwhelmed with paintings. It's a mad dash to get everything completed. We're touching up, glazing and adding those last minute touch ups that elevate a painting to the next level.
You can't imagine how crazy our studio is, in these last several days before the opening of The Inclusion Art Show. Here's a trip down memory lane, of our many collaborative posters with the show, featuring our PotteryWorks artists along with artists from Alternative Studio.
Sangeeta Rekhi's Schooner platter, part of her Maude Lewis series is a masterpiece. Kaori Gokita has started a new landscape with trees glaze design, and Linda Raudonus is still producing her elegant abstract design. James Lash is developing his house designs that are promising.
Sangeeta Rekhi is almost finished her very beautiful winter scene. James Lash is almost there with his latest seascape and Dan Tell has completed his Group of Seven inspired East Coast landscape. Bradley Merritt is on the home stretch for his latest painting of a Whale Shark.
Snap Photo Squad went to Burnaby's Deer Lake Park. Anyone who knows this park, will know about it's beauty and diversity and nature scenes. The Squad weren't disappointed and they captured some amazing shots of nature, beside a bustling area of Burnaby. Have a look at these shots
Kaori Gokita's pear design is simply gorgeous and Linda Raudonus new abstract design is so elegant. Sangeeta Rekhi's Maude Lewis inspired works are just jaw dropping, so great. Dan Tell's hockey player is the cutest design in our studio. We hope that your Thanksgiving was great.
Bradley Merritt explored New Westminster's waterfront yesterday. Our waterfront offers a unique mix of history and new, nature and working docks, and a river bustling with boats and trains and art installations. Bradley and his eye, caught an interesting mix of all of the above.
Our Colour Collective painters, are relieved to see their works coming together in time for The Inclusion Art Show. After months of work and focus, they can see the finish line and the results are spectacular. Have a look at these gorgeous works, destined for Inclusion Art Show.
Linda Raudonus has a reputation for her abstract paintings. However, Linda is a very serious potter, who works on the wheel and is very adventurous with her glaze designs. Lately, Linda has been exploring an abstract, mid-century modern feel for her latest pottery pieces.
This is our 21st year of The Inclusion Art Show. Honestly, the workload for preparation is intense but once the displays are up and the paintings hung, it's the best event of the year. We see old friends and meet so many great people, including our artist's families and friends.
From our kilns today. James Lash has a new design in his old farmhouse platter and Kaori Gokita is continuing her delicious Pear designed plates. Colleen Yip's green and polka dot set is spectacular and Linda Raudonus is still producing her stunning abstract and blue dot designs
Yesterday, Snap Photo Squad visited Simon Fraser University's Museum of Archaeology and Ethnology. They found a treasure trove of artifacts for photography. Their excursions around the Lower Mainland have shown us so many venues that we've missed in our busy lives, we thank them.
Congratulations to Sangeeta Rekhi, whose painting has been chosen by The Community Living Society for their Holiday Card. It's a stunning painting, well deserved! Sangeeta has also been turning out a series of Maude Lewis inspired pottery pieces that are just perfection.
Cheyenne Quan manages to bring some sunshine, even on a dark rainy day, so we love to see her come through our door. Cheyenne is always up for whatever we offer her, wheel throwing, hand building and exploring new glaze techniques with the biggest smile ever! Meet Cheyenne.
Kaori Gokita's "Blue Wave" design has become a studio favourite and Linda Raudonus abstract blue dot bowls are beautiful. Sangeeta Rekhi took a break from her Maude Lewis homage, to develop this new Fuscia flower design and Jocelyn Tongs new floral design is exuberant and fresh.
Two of our biggest events are happening soon New West Cultural Crawl and The Inclusion Art Show. We start next weekend Oct 3-4, with the New West Cultural Crawl. Oct 27-28, at the Roundhouse in Yaletown is the annual Inclusion Art Show, a must see event that fills the Roundhouse.
We continue to be amazed at the rapid progression of artist Bradley Merritt. It brings it's own reward for us, when we watch a new artist grab the opportunities we offer. Bradley is becoming a triple threat artist, accomplished in painting, pottery and photography. Have a look.
