The sun came back over the Forest, bringing the scent of May. All the streams of the Forest were tinkling happily to find themselves their own pretty shape again and the little pools lay dreaming of the life they had seen and the things they had done. ~A.A.Milne #MayDay #1stMay

“Wenceslas was perhaps the most beloved King who ever lived. He was a Prince of Peace. I think that to have lived so long ago, and ever since to have been a song on the lips of the world, just because he was gentle, is a wonderful thing to have happened.” ~A.A.Milne #Christmas

In a historic first, the River Ouse has become the first river in the UK to have its rights recognised by a local authority!
Lewes District Council has endorsed a Charter of Rights to protect & recognise the rights of the Ouse to biodiversity, freedom from pollution, a say in decisions that affect it and more.
This is part of the growing Rights of Rivers movement in the UK & is a much-needed towards recognising rivers as living entities with a right to be protected. It will be interesting to see the implementation of these Rights & whether other rivers will follow suit.

What an extraordinary aerial perspective of Ham Fen’s transformation, beautifully showcasing the power of beavers in habitat restoration 🌿🦫
🎥 This footage is of Ham Fen, the last remaining fenland in Kent. A little over 20 years ago, it had almost completely dried out—but thanks to a licensed beaver trial, the area has been brought back to life! 🦫🌊
Not only is this wetland restored, but biodiversity is thriving, and it’s now a climate-resilient landscape. 🌍
This is why our government must "free the beaver" and prioritise species reintroduction. Let nature heal itself! 💚
