Traveling within an area is fine but going between them is where things slow down. Some areas have MetroLink for regional transit and local agencies e.g. Metro, Octa, LBT, but they often serve very specific needs e.g. to or from downtown and can be slow to use for other trips.

do angelenos really live like this? i’m not really close with anyone who lives in california but i cannot imagine how this city even functions with everyone driving so far and so slowly all the time

E.g. going to a friend's house by bus would take ~105 minutes while being 15 by car, with service being hourly and ending at 11 pm.

update on this cuz i wasnt aware of this and its not easy information to find, if youre in a canadian university, theres a non-zero chance that your studient union got access to green shield coverage which since winter 2026 includes 50k$ lifetime for ffs, vfs, laser etc.
