ALT My job incudes representing postgraduate students full-time - and the largest part of this role has always been fighting to improve the PGR experience. Over the past two years I’ve: Fought to implement Graduate Tutor/Demonstrator contracts in all schools. Established a cross-University PGR mentoring scheme. Strengthened the PGR extenuating circumstances policy and broadened our reasonable adjustments. And given PGRs a stronger voice and platform across all areas of the University...

ALT ... And that’s just to name a few things! Having a PhD student in this role has been transformative. There is still so much work to be done to represent and lobby for improvements in the PGR experience. Whether that’s fighting for secure supervision and teaching opportunities or having a say in the development of the University’s Graduate School.

ALT We need a PhD student present in these spaces to advocate and champion our interests. Are you mid-PhD or close to completion? That’s NO PROBLEM! The Students’ Union can work flexibly with you to ensure your needs are met - just reach out and ask! Taking a break from my PhD has given me the opportunity to develop an incredible breadth of skills - and even work on a few publications along the way! Nominations close Friday 28th February at 6pm. Any questions? Reach out to me! I’m more than happy to support you! Micaela, your VP Postgrad
