This is fascinating,
I just requested for a postcode for a building in an area (Mowe-Ibafo) not covered yet. And hopefully in 24hours it'll be ready.
The app even gave a temporary code pending 24hrs timeline.

Nigeria launches National Digital Alphanumeric Postcode System
---
The Federal Government on Thursday, 1 October 2026, launched the National Digital Alphanumeric Postcode System, a GIS-enabled addressing framework meant to give every addressable building in Nigeria a unique digital location code.
Minister of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy Dr Bosun Tijani announced the rollout on X, describing the launch as a first step and calling on developers and businesses to embed the codes in everyday services. The system is operated by the Nigerian Postal Service (NIPOST). Postmaster-General Tola Odeyemi said the public release coincides with Independence Day and that every location now has a postcode.

Thank you sir, HM @bosuntijani , for this recognition and for celebrating the @milsat_africa team.
We started Milsat with the conviction that we could build the geospatial technology needed to solve some of our most pressing data gap and challenges.
Seeing Postcode grow from a pilot into national infrastructure is a proud moment for everyone who has contributed to this journey.
A very big appreciation to the Postmaster General @tola_odeyemi, who's leadership gave room for founders like us to thrive. Your trust and patience are admirable ma.
I am especially grateful to my team for their dedication, and to NIPOST, NPC, NASRDA, OSGOF, and to Meeds Network Limited for their trust and partnership.
Our experience in Nigeria continues to shape what we build and how we build it. We look forward to bringing that expertise to more countries, helping them turn location and field data into better services for their people.
Thank you for the encouragement. There is so much more ahead 🚀

Built in Nigeria. Ready for the world.
Today, I want to celebrate @milsat_africa, founded by Taslim Saluadeen and Adedamola Baderinwa, the Nigerian company behind the technology powering our new National Digital Postcode.
From delivering a pilot in 2023 to building a national system, Milsat demonstrates the depth of Nigerian technical capability and our ability to create infrastructure that improves public services, supports businesses and opens up economic opportunities.
Their work extends beyond postcode. Milsat supported the National Population Commission’s mapping of more than 65 million properties in preparation for Nigeria’s first digital census, and has deployed enumeration area demarcation technology in Sierra Leone.
This is the ambition I want us to nurture: Nigerian companies building solutions for our needs, proving their capabilities at home and taking that expertise to the world.
With appreciation to @NipostNgn, Meeds Network Limited and the National Population Commission for their roles in this journey, today’s spotlight belongs to the Milsat team.
I look forward to seeing you help many more countries turn location and field data into better services for their people.

While NIPOST is currently working in the postcode integration with Google map for navigation, you may still navigate on the NIPOST postcode platforms either via the web page postcode.gov.ng or the Postcode App.
Watch my attached video. Once you receive the postcode of any location, use the search engine to search for the postcode and then click "direction" for you to start navigating.
It will calculate even the time of arrival either by driving or trekking just like Google map.
It is simple.
Spread the news!

We can all pave the way for a future full of opportunities and possibilities. Find your postcode and help another!
"Some moments you plan for. Some moments you fight for.
Yesterday, Nigeria launched the National Digital Alphanumeric Postcode System. By the end of launch day, Nigerians had made almost 900,000 postcode requests, with a 99.8% success rate.
These are the people who carried this when it was only an idea. Through the long nights, the setbacks, the doubts, and the meetings that went nowhere, they kept building. NIPOST is in the middle of reform, and reform is hard, quiet work. It doesn’t give you many days to stop and celebrate.
Today is one of those days.
To every member of the NIPOST & Postcode team: this is your victory. You didn’t only build a system. You gave every Nigerian home, business and community an address that can be found, served and counted. Thank you for believing when it was hardest to believe.
This is only the beginning. The NIPOST we are building is one Nigerians can be proud of, and days like this are proof that it is coming" ~ @tola_odeyemi

In Nigeria, staying focused on long-term foundations can be tough, but few things are more rewarding. Our people deserve that investment.
What this developer is building with the new postcode system shows what Nigerians can do when those foundations are in place. This government is committed to laying many more.
To our builders: the postcode is yours to build on. What will you create?
moniepoint and opay had to send someone to my house just to confirm i live there.
nigeria just launched @Postcode_ng + a raw nipost api
so i built the Veriadd, thing banks/fintech should have called instead of a field agent
