350 ground balls every night, better and better each day. Simple math says from now till graduation, I’ll have over 200k reps.
Mini monsoon blowing thru. My brother and I have been in a bike trailer since birth and riding bikes nearly everyday since we’ve been able to walk. If you know anything about the tri cities, the wind is always a topic of discussion. Some mornings going to school my brother and I would be in tears. Pops would always say, the wind only makes us stronger. He’d ramble about how much stronger we’d be than our peers, talk about being resilient. We didn’t understand any of it at the time. Our legs would feel like cement pedaling up a hill that most people don’t attempt on a bike. Last year I officially became stronger and faster than my pops on a bike. I understand it now.
Glad to be back in the pool. I decided not to play football this year so I could focus on baseball and swim, although I still practice catching and running routes a few days per week because my little brother needs QB practice. Today’s itinerary - work, school, work, @dbatcbasin , Atomic Swim Team.
During my latest Driveline assessment, my grip strength tested in the top 1% of all baseball players they’ve evaluated.
Based on my range of motion, force-velocity profile, strength, and other measurables, their computer models project that I currently have the physical potential to safely throw 98 mph from the mound. I’m not there yet. The potential doesn’t mean much without the work. Now it’s about turning the metrics into results.
Swinging the new @ChandlerBats today and put up some pretty good numbers on HitTrax. Over 900 swings on the day. Just getting reps, making adjustments, and stacking days. And yes—@Warstic still makes the best batting gloves I’ve found. One pair lasts me about six months, while most of the other popular brands are blown out in about two.
Short-hop day. Here are a few clips from toward the end of my session.
Our hopper holds about 350 balls, and I like to work through the entire bin. I intentionally save the video for late in the session, when I’m tired and my movements aren’t quite as crisp. That’s when the work gets valuable.
I actually like when I miss one late. It forces me to tell myself: lock in. Reset the feet. Reset the eyes. Get back on time and make the next play. Anybody can look clean when they’re fresh. I want to train my focus and fundamentals when fatigue starts showing up. 350 balls. One rep at a time. Finish better than I started.
Used the last of my energy in today’s hitting session to try to hit the ball as hard as I could today had some solid hits to finish it off.
Today was a full one. Stack the work. Fuel the body. Move on to the next challenge.
Started the day with my athletic trainer—an explosive full-body lift followed by sprint and agility work using water bags and weighted sleds.
Refueled, then headed to @LegacyJJA for Muay Thai. Heavy emphasis today on making combinations smooth and fluid—punches, kicks, knees, and elbows all flowing together.
Refueled again and headed to @dbatcbasin to hear some bats crack. Today’s focus: curveballs. Seeing spin, staying back, and learning to adjust.
One more refuel, then finished the night in the pool with Atomic Swim.
Strength. Speed. Combat. Baseball. Swimming.
Different sports. Different movements. Different demands. But they all feed the same goal: becoming a more complete athlete.
Busy day—but these are the days I love. Keep stacking them.
Rolled over to D-Bat this morning to get in some hitting work, the focus today was game-level swings so I was working on bat speed and solid contact throughout the session.
Not quite there with the iron cross, but I did get a no hand kipup. It’s been a fun break thru summer for speed, strength, and overall athleticism.
Newest upgrade at The Forge. Pops put in an agility ladder for us to work on rhythm and footwork. Thankful to have someone in our corner who sees a weakness and helps us correct and improve. #zerohour
I’d say happy Friday, but weekends are for the weak to justify taking off days. Works not done, keep grinding and create your bliss. #restattheendnotinthemiddle
Yoga has been part of my life for as long as I can remember, but I never realized how much it was shaping me as an athlete. From pitching to swimming, it’s become one of the biggest reasons I can move, recover, and perform at my best.
