We’ll share updates as bargaining progresses. Solidarity matters, and so does accountability. In the meantime, please send a letter to Washington Post management telling them you stand with Post Tech workers: actionnetwork.org/letters/te…

These layoffs never should have been attempted in the first place. But now that we’re here, the company has a responsibility to do what’s right for the people who built and sustain The Post’s technology.

Tomorrow, the Washington Post Tech Guild enters effects and decisional bargaining over the company’s illegal attempted layoffs of 76 of our colleagues. Our goal is to secure the best possible deal for our members: both those who want to stay and those who choose to leave.

The @PostGuild's data is the latest example in the years-long unraveling of the news industry’s promises to improve diversity, equity, and inclusion after George Floyd’s killing and the ensuing “racial reckoning” of 2020. niemanlab.org/2026/02/washin…

America’s unions rallied outside of The Washington Post yesterday after owner Jeff Bezos, one of the richest people on Earth, laid off hundreds of union workers. Solidarity with @postguild as they fight to #SaveThePost!

Yesterday’s rally at The Post drew a huge crowd to fight for journalism and to #SaveThePost. These layoffs are shameful, and we are all worse off because of them. Still, we will continue to fight for journalism and for a free press.

Cutting newsroom workers undermines accountability for those pulling the levers of power. Jeff Bezos’ mass layoffs are not only a threat to workers – they are a threat to accountability journalism! Standing with the @PostGuild workers at @WashingtonPost.

Many of The Washington Post's vitally important locally hired foreign reporters + staff have also lost their jobs, but they aren't covered by the same contract as our correspondents — please consider donating to support them: gofundme.com/f/support-for-w…
So many have given to The Post Guild’s fundraising effort, and we are floored. But we also ask you to consider supporting the fundraiser for our international staff and staff in our bureaus who aren’t Guild eligible. They are absolutely vital to coverage. gofund.me/a325666b6

If @JeffBezos follows through with reported staff cuts, he will kneecap @washingtonpost journalism at a critical moment for our democracy. Please join @PostGuild this Thursday at 12pm for a rally in front of the Post's DC office #SaveThePost wbng.org/2026/02/02/save-the…

If @JeffBezos follows through w/ reported layoffs, the Post newsroom will have shrunk from more than 1,100 to roughly 600 in under 3 years. Slashing staff isn't making us profitable - it hurts our ability to produce distinctive journalism & gives people less reason to subscribe.
Layoffs are not a business strategy. We have the proof, @JeffBezos. 🧵 #SaveThePost

@vanhoutenphoto & I were reporting this week in villages in NW Nigeria attacked days before by an Islamic State affiliate the U.S. is targeting. Again & again, people told us they couldn’t believe we were there. It’s work we so desperately don’t want to stop. #SaveThePost

Language fluent, context-knowledgeable journalists like Heba are the backbone of international reporting. The Washington Post & access to knowledge about the world in general—Americans’ access, Anglophones’ access, everyone’s access, really—are much poorer when they’re fired.
It is the first time in my life that I post something like this, but I would never forgive myself if I don’t try to protect something I love and have faith in. #SaveThePost

I can’t emphasize enough how integral deep, cross-desk collaboration is to our reporting. Some of the biggest global stories begin right here in the DMV — case in point: Kilmar Abrego Garcia and the administration’s move to send hundreds of immigrants to a prison in El Salvador.
The special sauce of The Post has always been its collegiality & collaborative spirit. It's evident in the number of scoops & investigations that come from teams across the newsroom. Cuts to Metro, Sports, International, etc. will hurt the whole enterprise -- and our readers.
