Today, we officially signed a landmark partnership agreement with Sterling Bank! Sterling Bank is committing ₦60 million in prizes for the 2027 South East Mathematics & Science Olympiad. In addition, the bank is committing ₦24 million to our National Mathematics Quiz, where outstanding students will receive ₦1 million in prizes every month. But it gets even better! Our star students will now have access to internship opportunities at Sterling Bank, while winners of the South East Mathematics & Science Olympiad will receive an additional one-year scholarship. What a bank! What a commitment to the future of Nigerian children! We will continue to double down on our efforts to build the greatest workforce in Africa by 2036. We are deliberately investing in the next generation of mathematicians, scientists, engineers, innovators, and problem-solvers. And I have just one request for everyone reading this: Open an account with Sterling Bank. Encourage your family members, friends, and colleagues to bank with Sterling. When a bank makes this level of commitment to the education and future of our children, it deserves our support. This is the kind of corporate investment that can transform a generation. Sterling Bank is not just banking on Nigerians. It is investing in the future of Nigeria. Thank you, Sterling Bank. Our children will remember this investment.

My quick takeaways on the Anthropic S-1: 1. This is a historical moment 2. $6.6M in revenue per employee!! Hard to even comprehend how good that is but Anthropic is AI native as it gets so makes sense. 3. I always thought OpenAI would drop their S-1 first 4. Customers spend about 9x more after a year. Net Revenue Retention is approximately 900% as of Sep 30, 2026. Good SaaS companies brag about 120%. 5. Cowork is growing faster than Claude Code did. Goes to show you the demand for consumer products. Duo will probably rip. 6. 3 years ago this company did $41M in revenue. In the first six months of 2026, it did $16.3 billion. I don't think anyone has a mental model for that curve yet, I sure don’t. 7. Nearly half of revenue comes through cloud marketplaces. About 48% comes from customers buying through them. Big companies buy where their budget already lives, and the lesson for founders selling to enterprises is to get listed where your buyers already spend. 8. Their run rate formula is published: the last 28 days of usage times 13, plus subscriptions times 12, which i guess is the new ARR math for founders? 9. It looks like They're merging Cowork into Claude dot au which tells you the chat box era is ending and the "go do the work for me" era is here. 10. Thousands of Anthropic employees are about to become liquid at once, so expect the biggest wave of new AI startups and angel checks San Francisco has ever seen. Reminds me when Facebook went public but this is way bigger. Let’s go! 11. Buried in the filing, Anthropic says the gap between what Claude can do and how widely it's used is one of its biggest growth opportunities, so the company itself is telling you the models are ahead of the market and someone has to close that gap for dentists, landlords, and plumbers. 12. Whatever happens, exciting times to be building in AI.

Egypt is the most revealing case of all. Ancient Egypt, with its pyramids, its philosophy, its mathematical precision, its medicine, its legal systems, its art that still stops people in museum halls, is acknowledged as one of the great civilizations of human history. And for most of Western academic history, it was also systematically, carefully, persistently de-Africanized. Ancient Egyptians were depicted as lighter than the evidence suggests. The obvious geographical and cultural connections to the rest of Africa were minimized. The Nile Valley civilizations that predated the dynastic period were underdiscussed. Cheikh Anta Diop spent his career arguing that ancient Egypt was an African civilization. Not Mediterranean. Not racially ambiguous. Not a separate category inserted between "real" Africa and "real" civilization. African. The reaction from Western academia was not engagement. It was dismissal. It was decades of institutional resistance. It was the particular fury of a field that had built its understanding of the ancient world on the careful, necessary, structurally load-bearing separation of Egypt from the continent it sits on. Because if Egypt is African, then the sentence "Africa had no civilization before Europe arrived" doesn’t just need revision. It becomes incoherent. Not just false, but the precise inversion of the truth. And not just about one dynasty or one period but about the foundational story of Western civilization itself, which drew substantially from Egyptian knowledge in mathematics, medicine, architecture, philosophy. Which means Western civilization did not bring knowledge to Africa. It learned from it. The mummies are still there. The DNA studies have complicated every clean narrative. Diop’s work has been increasingly vindicated by genetic and archaeological evidence. The resistance continues anyway. But the instinct, the deep structural instinct to separate the civilization you want to celebrate from the continent you needed to be empty, that instinct shaped the field for generations. You cannot claim the pyramids and also claim the continent that built them had no history. You cannot do both with a straight face. They tried anyway.

I started @GO54_hq (Whogohost) in my first year at OAU. Then @Jobbermandotcom (Jobberman), with 2 of my friends and built it to 50,000 users before graduating. At NYSC camp, investors came knocking with a $1M offer. The journey taught me a lot about building, partnerships, fundraising, and solving real problems. I shared some of these lessons, what we're building with .CV, and my thoughts on entrepreneurship in the age of AI on The Builders Podcast. This is one of the biggest geopolitical mysteries of the year: why did China just save the world economy? Because, make no mistake, it absolutely did. Analysts are pretty much unanimous on this: had China not dramatically - and I mean dramatically - reduced its oil imports this year, the price of crude oil would have gone through the roof and dragged the global economy down with it. For proof, read how Javier Blas from Bloomberg - widely recognized as one of the world’s top energy analysts - explains what China did to Jake Sullivan and Jon Finer on their podcast “The Long Game” (thelonggame.substack.com/p/t…). As Blas puts it, China went “from 11, 12 million barrels a day to less than 6 million barrels a day” of seaborne crude imports, and that “freed a lot of oil for other countries, particularly in Asia.” India, Japan, Korea and Southeast Asia “could buy the barrels that China was not buying.” To be clear, China wasn’t the only factor - surging US exports and the IEA’s emergency release helped too - but it was by far the biggest: JPMorgan reckons China accounted for about 74% of the fall in global crude trade (fortune.com/2026/06/10/oil-p…). So it's no exaggeration to say that it is China, first and foremost, that saved the world economy this year. If you remember the early days of the Iran war, none of this is what was predicted. In fact some US think tankers, such as the (always horrendous) Zineb Riboua from the Hudson Institute, were even cheering the war as being “all about China… the opening act in the larger contest against China,” the moment the US would crack “the central pillar of a regional order that Beijing has assembled” (thefp.com/p/the-iran-strike-…). Seven months on, what actually happened is that not only did China come out of the war unscathed economically, and strengthened strategically, it also ended up shielding the world economy, America’s included, from the fallout of the very war that was supposed to be its undoing. Breaking news: if you do something that’s supposed to be a “blow” to someone else - some sort of 3D chess move to gain the upper hand - and they end up having to rescue you from the fallout, maybe it wasn’t such a brilliant strategic move after all. So how did China pull it off? And, more intriguingly, why did it choose to rescue countries, including the US, from a war that Washington’s own hawks were openly selling as a strike against China itself? And why do this when it effectively dampened Iran's leverage considerably, even though they're supposed to be China's "ally" (which, as we'll see, is false)? This is the topic of my latest article. I went very deep researching all the Chinese sources I could find on this, looking at the exact legal mechanisms, and at what officials, oil refiners and state media actually said. The answer turns out to be far stranger than I expected: no-one in Beijing actually ever ordered an import cut. China, effectively, seems to have saved the world economy incidentally, as a by-product of its own domestic policy to protect Chinese consumers. Which is the real story here: China has become so large and so important it can just rescue the world economy as a mere side effect. In fact what I discovered, hilariously, is that the Chinese were just as surprised as anyone else: it’s only weeks after Western media started crediting China with saving the world economy that Chinese media picked up the story. And even then, CCTV’s first take in July (chinanews.com.cn/gj/2026/07-…) presented it as something 外媒称 (wàiméi chēng, “foreign media claim”) 🤣 Almost like a giant suddenly waking up to its own powers. Because, that's the thing: intentions fade, consequences stay. Intentional or not, as Igor Sechin, the head of Rosneft, Russia’s largest oil company, put it (reuters.com/business/aerospa…), the consequence is that it's now China, not OPEC, who calls the shots on global energy markets. The valve of global oil pricing is now in Shandong, not in Zhongdong anymore (Zhongdong, 中东, is the Middle East in Chinese). Full article here, with how China’s 20-year strategic nightmare, the “Malacca dilemma”, has now effectively become its leverage over the rest of the world: arnaudbertrand.substack.com/…

The tragedy of Israel's Genocide in Gaza is the fact that the state came to being as a result of the genocide they suffered. One would expect them to understand how inhuman it is to treat a people in the most despicable manner, worse than animals.
