It's a term of endearment and thanks to both men and women in many areas of the UK. Not something I bat an eyelid on!

I am so much more productive at home. On the days I do travel on site, I achieve way less.
The chit chat is however often really beneficial.
It's probably more about the balance
It took until 3 years old for my second child to be diagnosed. He passed the newborn screen and distraction tests. His older sibling is deaf, but no further testing was deemed necessary.
He is profoundly deaf in 1 ear, moderate in the other
🚨 INVESTIGATION: 1,540 children across England have been misdiagnosed by NHS hearing tests. Leaked @NHSEngland documents reveal concerns at 90 units. Insiders say NHSE hasn't acted despite evidence of the scale of harm 🧵1/8

Shameless boast: my little girl just came 4th in the Danish Junior Squash competition under 11s. So proud of her, she works so hard!

Such sad news, one of our own from @StGeorgesUni.
It is with deep sadness that I share news of the passing of my friend and colleague, Dr Chris Dobson.
Dr Dobson had been unwell for a short period of time and passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday.
As a dedicated physician and gastroenterologist in Cornwall, he touched the lives of tens of thousands of patients throughout his 23 years of service.
His affable nature, sense of humour and his ability to relate with people endeared him to many. He supported me as a first year registrar and it was his friendship that prompted my move to Cornwall.
Dr Dobson leaves behind his wife and 2 children, and a profound void in the hearts of all who knew him. He will be sorely missed and he will never be forgotten 💔💐
It all adds to the narrative of obesity being a choice, that it's controllable if you just try harder.
Food as an emotional crutch in society is part of huge messy tangled problem which goes far beyond the odd doughnut.
It's playing on women's emotional insecurities especially

Birthing a child is one of the most wonderful things. It's also a risk.
A woman who has nurtured a child through so many months in her body is never a failure, no matter the exit.
Stop with the goal of a 'natural birth'.
The best birth is one with a baby and a mum.
I've just learned that my middle child has nicknamed me 'spawn point ' and my husband 'co-creator'

Pressure to treat from other healthcare professionals should never trump safe prescribing. I've rarely agreed to it in my 24 year career.
Medication requests often come from the most desperate of new mothers who have been made to feel like a total failure.
Deep breath. I wrote for @guardian about how under the extreme pressure to breastfeed my first baby, I agreed to take domperidone, a drug frequently prescribed off-label to aid lactation, without being told of its potentially serious mental health impacts.

The thing about criminals - in particular stupid, venal, lying, manipulative, racist, sex-offending, democracy-defying, corrupt, fraudulent criminals - is that they are seldom as clever or persuasive as they think they are.
And they eventually find that they can’t buy justice.
