Reagan 1984: 54,455,472
Obama 2008: 69,498,516
Obama 2012: 65,915,795
Trump 2016: 62,984,828
(Clinton won popular vote 65,853,514)
Kamala: 71,000,000 & counting. Tho a loss, the tsunami of bad takes on Harris/Walz is a dangerous disservice to truth—and to our unfolding future
THIS was a Landslide. 1984
Reagan won 49 of 50 states—
Including California, the most populous state.
Reagan got 525 Electoral College votes,
to Mondale’s 13.
2024, while a defeat for Harris/Walz,
is NO Landslide, NO Mandate.
Major disservice when people—journalists, pundits, public—rush to conclusions & faulty interpretations BEFORE all the votes are counted—especially those cast here in CALIFORNIA—with our population almost 10,000,000 larger than any other state.
2024 is NO MANDATE, NO LANDSLIDE.
The larger story holds, but Harris is now ahead in Orange Co., CA. washingtonpost.com/opinions/…

Obama got 69.5 million votes. Clinton lost in 2016 bc she got fewer votes than him. Harris is at 70.2 million votes and will end up with a few million more.
Liberals didn't dream the Harris enthusiasm - there are just millions more Trump voters than they expected.

This came up when I was talking to Dems in swing states this week - it felt like Obama 2008 enthusiasm bc Harris was indeed getting Obama 2008 numbers!

Still seeing "Harris couldn't turn out millions of Biden voters," and the count in swing states says that's not true.
In Wisconsin, Harris got 37k more votes than Biden. The most votes of any Dem candidate since Obama in 2008.
She lost bc Trump added 77k more votes since 2020.

She is very close to Biden 2020 raw vote in MI and PA. Had Trump just recreated his 2020 vote, he would have lost MI and PA would be too close to call still. But he added 151k votes in MI, 108k in PA.

What about Georgia? Biden got 2.47m votes in 2020, Harris got 2.54m votes this week. Trump won because he added 200k votes.
NC? Harris outran Biden by 4k votes. Wouldn't even have been enough to win in 2020 ... but Trump added 120k votes.

From Ipsos last month. People who answered factual questions about inflation, crime, and immigration incorrectly were "more likely to opt for Trump," while those who answered correctly preferred Harris.
Disinformation and lack of basic education and knowledge are destroying us.

People keep saying that being afraid of Trump wasn’t enough of a motivator. I feel like I’m in the twilight zone. But I have no speeches left.
If he does even a fraction of what he said he’ll do, they’ll learn the hard way. This is going to be brutal.

In the coming days there's gonna be a lot of opining about what the Harris campaign did wrong, but this election was not an indictment of Kamala Harris. It was an indictment of America.

There is one critical takeaway here. Kamala Harris was not the problem. She had great policy. She had strong values. She had a superb message. She had a stellar ground game. She had immense energy and compassion and love for America. Don't let anyone convince you otherwise.
