Can you spot the women at #COP29?
➔ Only 6 out of 78 government leaders mentioned the impact of climate change on women.
➔ 4 of the 6 were women.
We need women's equal representation at the decision-making table for #ClimateAction.

In the run-up to #WorldPopulationDay, we look at the major population conferences that have led us to this point in time. Population issues unfortunately no longer receive as much attention as they used to, and as a result, funding for international family planning has stalled.

Accelerating the Fight Against Malaria for a More Equitable World
On World Malaria Day today, as Special Advisor to @WHOAFRO, I am highlighting how malaria continues to directly endanger health and cost lives, while perpetuating a vicious cycle of inequity throughout Africa, as our region continues to carry the heaviest burden of the disease, accounting for 94% and 95% of malaria case and deaths, with people living in the most vulnerable situations including pregnant women, infants, children under 5 years of age, and internally displaced people, disproportionately impacted.
The @WellbeingAfrica Foundation, works towards ensuring everyone has the right to quality, timely, and affordable services to prevent, detect, and treat malaria, especially as nearly every minute, a child under 5 dies of malaria in Africa. #WBFA #Midwives provide education, advice and referrals to ensure mothers and their children are protected, especially during pregnancy, as pregnancy reduces a woman’s immunity to malaria, making her more susceptible to infection and increasing her risk of severe disease and death, and if left untreated, malaria in pregnancy can cause severe anaemia, maternal death, stillbirth, premature delivery, and low-birth weight babies.
With a focus on achieving the critical 2025 milestones of the @WHO Global Malaria Strategy, I call to action for the global health community to continue strengthening efforts in ending discrimination and stigma, engaging communities in health decision-making, bringing health care close to where people live through primary health care, addressing factors that increase malaria risk, advocating for inclusion of malaria control interventions in universal health coverage, and encouraging the WHO recommended programmatic use of malaria vaccines (RTS,S/AS01 and R21/Matrix-M) for children living in malaria endemic areas, prioritising areas of moderate and high transmission, so that we can end this completely preventable and curable disease once and for all.
