The stand at Holker Street home of @BarrowAFC (date unknown). Remember being a Linesman there at a Reserves game in the #Lancashire League in the late 1960s, early 1970s. #Football #Lancashire

You meet people like this all the time in politics. Products of their echo chambers, sneering at anyone who doesn’t share their po-faced, joyless view of the world. The PM went on a show that many people love, it was fun and it raised money for a cancer charity. Good for him.
'Is that a really good use of his time?'
'Raising money for a cancer charity?'
The Green Party's @floschechter brands Andy Burnham going on Gogglebox as 'ridiculous'.

🔴 This is extraordinary.
Chancellor @JohnHealey_MP says that if Britain had invested its North Sea oil and gas revenues like Norway did, we could now have a sovereign wealth fund worth around £1 TRILLION.
Norway turned its energy inheritance into national wealth for future generations.
Britain privatised major energy assets, treated North Sea tax revenues as current income, and used the windfall to fund mass deindustrialisation, unemployment and redundancy costs.
In 1984–85 alone, North Sea revenues were about £12bn. We had the same geological fortune as Norway.
What differed was the political choice, Norway built a national asset and Britain spent the windfall and sold much of the inheritance.
Now we face huge public debt, fragile energy security and another geopolitical shock.
For long-term resilience, a country has strategic natural assets, the state has to think beyond the next Budget.
Food security. Energy security. National wealth.
All are about planning for the future rather than assuming tomorrow will look like today.
‘We'd have a British sovereign wealth fund now that will be worth probably a trillion pounds’
Chancellor @JohnHealey_MP suggests what Britain could have gained if it had set up an energy wealth fund like Norway’s back in the 1980s

Everyone at Barrow AFC is deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Dave Leitch.
A founding member of the National Supporters Club 50 years ago, Dave devoted an incalculable amount of time to both the NSC and to following the club across the country.
His fundraising efforts, particularly as NSC membership secretary, have allowed improvements to be made to all areas of the club over the past five decades, for which we are truly grateful.
Our thoughts are with his family, friends and all of those at the National Supporters Club.

Man who is not familiar with the concept of Harrogate Town.
What on earth are @HarrogateTown fans thinking?
FA Cup Saturday.
Top seeded Club in the Northern section
2nd in the National League
2300 average home attendance
Away at a non-league club
Decent ground - all seated
All together under a roof
As close as an away day as you get all season (Exc. Halifax)
Only £10 to get in
Only £1 for kids
….. *and only 150 or so away tickets sold by last Sunday*….. I’ve heard…….
Embarrassing……
6.5% of the average 🤷🏼♂️
Should be 1000-1200 going to @buryfcofficial
