In a @uclh article, Professor Rakesh Popat, Consultant Haematologist at UCLH and Co-Chief Investigator of the TOPICAL trial, highlights the real-world challenge CRS creates through the need for close monitoring and treatment once it occurs: “Having an oral preventative treatment can help reduce this and make the treatment easier for patients.” His independent clinical perspective reinforces the rationale behind TOPICAL, which is evaluating POLB 001 as a potential oral preventative treatment for CRS in patients with multiple myeloma receiving bispecific antibody therapy. If successful, preventing or reducing CRS could lessen the need for hospital monitoring and intervention, reduce the treatment burden for patients and healthcare systems, and potentially provide greater flexibility in how these important immunotherapies are delivered.
