A massive ‘thank you’ to these amazing individuals who, on a wintry Melbourne night, showcased our lab at @UniMelb Science week. Proud to watch our team engage with the public and communicate the impact, and relevance of their chemistry. Thank you. @SciMelb @ChemistryUoM
Proud moment when our graduate students deliver their PhD completion seminar. Congratulations Liam @liamfranov on an excellent lecture highlighting your work on carbanion generation. Liam’s work was published in @J_A_C_S and @NatureCatalysis - next stop: Austria!
Celebrating a week of publications with a paper party. 🎉 Thanks to entire group, the authors and Milena for the radical anion cupcakes! @MCzyz1 @liamfranov
Immensely proud of our team (past, present and future!) who received @ChemistryUoM awards tonight. 💥Congrats Luca, Jose, Ann and Harry on your achievements - well deserved recognition! @ChemCaveman.
Very excited to share our latest discovery in @NatureCatalysis for photocatalytic generation of alkyl carbanions - no need organometallic reagents or reducing metals!

We’re excited to share our new protocol enabling reductive activation of π-bonds via e-Chem in @J_A_C_S
Link: pubs.acs.org/doi/10.1021/ja… The radical anions promote coupling of olefins or heterocycles with aldehydes. Great work by the team: @liamfranov, Tayla and @MCzyz1.
Excited to share our latest work on the electroreductive coupling of alkenes and heterocycles with aliphatic aldehydes. Check it out here: chemrxiv.org/engage/chemrxiv…
Congrats to @liamfranov, Tayla and @MCzyz1!
A multigram-scale electrosynthesis is equal parts mesmerising, exciting and unnerving. Good luck Tayla!
It’s a wrap. Final experiments finished in the lab for the year. Time to relax and looking forward to working with this amazing bunch next year!
In our latest preprint, Photocatalytic Generation of Alkyl Carbanions from Alkenes (ChemRxiv - go.shr.lc/3tRWgbm) we disclose the controlled generation of 2-electron carbon nucleophiles via single electron reduction of alkenes: analogous to unmasked Grignard reagents!
