Our Polk State family is greatly saddened by the loss of Aalayah Jones, a May 2026 Bachelor of Applied Science in Supervision and Management graduate and former Student Government Association President who remained with our College as an OPS worker.
Her peers, advisors, and colleagues remember Jones for her larger-than-life personality and unwavering perseverance. She was a fierce advocate for sickle cell awareness, and she was dedicated to community service. Our hearts are with her family and friends.

We had a great time supporting Polk State Soccer on Wednesday as our Eagles played No. 2 Daytona State College, the two-time reigning national champion, which ended in a 1-1 draw.
My daughters especially appreciated their custom gear and enjoyed cheering our Eagles on!
I’m incredibly proud of our student-athletes — they played with grit and determination. Congratulations to @Polk_Athletics on an outstanding effort and #SoarEagles!

In Florida, students will learn the truth about communism and the freedoms individuals lose under oppressive communist regimes.
At Polk State College, we will also teach our students to be responsible citizens who are civically engaged so that they value and protect the freedoms afforded by the United States Constitution.
#ICYMI: Teaching about the atrocities committed by communist regimes gives students concrete reasons to value the United States Constitution’s protections for speech, property, and limited government.
As the grandson of Cuban grandparents who fled communist Cuba and Florida’s former Commissioner of Education, Polk State President @StasiKamoutsas shared his perspective with an audience full of brigade members who fought in the Bay of Pigs, about the implementation of Florida’s History of Communism standards.
Constitution Day was a natural moment to turn that knowledge into civil discourse. We are grateful to U.S. Congressman @ByronDonalds (R) and Florida @SenatorOsgood (D) for speaking to our students and encouraging them to remain civically engaged.

@PolkState Engineering Technology grad Terrance King continues to make a splash in the news, and rightfully so. He experienced and identified a very real need and used his education and innovativeness to invent a solution. He truly is using his degree for good, and we could not be more proud!

This invention was inspired by the loss of his grandmother, who tragically passed away from an infection while at an assisted living facility.
Terrance is now meeting with assisted living facilities in Jacksonville to discuss Clean Box’s pilot program.

This transformational gift from @OrlandoHealth is a testament to the quality of @PolkState’s workforce training in health sciences and nursing, which is directly supporting increasing healthcare demands for our hospitals and growing population.
We are grateful for Orlando Health’s $1 million investment and partnership. We look forward to naming the Orlando Health Radiography Suite in our soon-to-open Haines City-Davenport Campus, where this critical workforce training will be expanded thanks to investments like this and those of our Legislature and Governor.

This morning, #USF renewed its agreement to participate in the Fuse Transfer Program — helping to expand pathways from Florida colleges to bachelor’s degrees.
Launched in 2016, Fuse allows students who earn their associates degree in specific majors at participating state colleges to transfer to USF and complete a bachelor’s degree in two years.
