Spain is heading toward a general strike on November 11 and a snap general election on November 29 as the housing crisis becomes a central political issue.
#España #EleccionesYa
The crisis escalated after Congress rejected two government housing decrees by 178 to 172 and 184 to 166.
The measures covered evictions, expiring leases, rent increases, seasonal rentals, and speculative housing purchases.
The movement was galvanized by the September 23 eviction of 87-year-old Maricarmen Abascal, who had lived in her Madrid home for nearly seven decades. Her case sparked protests across Spain and became a national symbol of the housing crisis. Her passing on October 7 has further intensified the mobilization.
Failed action on the housing crisis has now been joined by a 24-hour general strike called by CCOO and UGT, with CGT also formally joining the mobilization.
Together, CCOO and UGT represent roughly two-thirds of elected workplace representatives in Spain. This will be their first jointly called nationwide general strike since 2012.
Toca movilizarse.
Toca pelear.
El 29 de noviembre vamos a hacer historia. Otra vez.

QUEBEC ELECTION RESULTS:
#polqc #QC2026
PQ: 59 ridings leading | 27.90% | 1,109,926 votes
PLQ: 40 ridings leading | 24.32% | 967,337 votes
PCQ: 19 ridings leading | 21.04% | 836,978 votes

CAQ: 0 ridings leading | 13.20% | 525,207 votes

Polling stations reporting: 94.37%
The late count is reinforcing the picture established earlier in the night. The PQ will return to government, but with less than 28% of the popular vote, while the Liberals and Conservatives are both above 20%. No party has reached 30%, leaving Quebec with a minority government and an electorate divided among several substantial political forces.
QUEBEC ELECTION RESULTS: CLOSING UPDATE
PQ: 59 ridings leading | 27.95% | 1,179,016 votes
PLQ: 40 ridings leading | 24.28% | 1,023,977 votes
PCQ: 19 ridings leading | 20.77% | 876,088 votes
QS: 9 ridings leading | 12.39% | 522,522 votes
CAQ: 0 ridings leading | 13.29% | 560,329 votes
Majority threshold: 64 seats
Polling stations reporting: 99.00%
Turnout: 67.31%
The Parti Québécois will return to power with a minority government, ending eight years of CAQ rule and bringing a nationalist and sovereigntist government back to Québec for the first time since 2014. The Liberals emerge as the main opposition, the PCQ enters the National Assembly with a substantial caucus, and the CAQ has been completely shut out.
The result leaves Québec with a fundamentally altered political landscape and puts sovereignty, federal relations, and the possibility of another independence referendum back at the centre of Canadian politics.
Brazil votes today in a closely fought and deeply polarized presidential election.

President Ignacio Lula enters the first round with a narrow polling lead over Flávio Bolsonaro, while both camps closed the campaign claiming a path to victory and mobilizing around sharply different visions of the country.
The election follows a campaign shaped by disputes over democracy and state institutions, economic and social policy, religion, foreign interference allegations, and the political legacy of Jair Bolsonaro.
