Breaking:
The government has now formally approved the Jackdaw gas field and says it will start to supply British homes and businesses by the end of the month
It says that at its peak it will increase domestic gas production by 6%
John Healey, the Chancellor, is also announcing an ‘energy wealth fund’. It will use tax revenues from the North Sea to invest in green projects, with an initial £2billion of funding
Miatta Fahnbulleh, the energy secretary, says it will not stop the UK from meeting its net zero targets
Andy Burnham: ‘I welcome the Energy Secretary’s decision, which will protect hundreds of jobs and help keep millions of homes warm this winter. At a time when people are really struggling, it's right that we look in a responsible way at maximising the existing energy reserves we have in Britain that could help
‘We’re committed to moving towards renewable energy and reaching net zero by 2050. But even on our ambitious climate path, we’ll still require oil and gas as part of our energy needs for decades to come. That’s why we’re taking a pragmatic approach to the North Sea.’

That speech was special, exceptional.
He was so real, especially about his Dad and to be honest, I was in bits. I just want to live in Andy Burnham's Britain ❤️
Honoured to be there to hear it.

I know I’m usually in Liverpool to support the Blues… but the next few days are all about the Reds 🌹
What a cracking message this would be from Labour voters (in a Party Election Broadcast, on socials etc) at the next GE: Reform UK MPs aren't fighting for us because they aren't like us.
A winning message, you might say.
The people in power aren’t fighting for us because they aren’t like us.
This November, let’s change that. It’s time to send a working person to represent Montana.
Happy Sunday, friends!

This is historically and empirically questionable.
In my lifetime every spike in unemployment has occurred under @Conservatives
8.3% Cameron
107% Major
11.9% Thatcher
Levels today remain near historic lows ~4.9% equivalent to 2000-07.
🚨 Labour is the party of unemployment.
Job vacancies are at their lowest level in a decade outside the pandemic. 101,000 payrolled jobs have been lost over the past year, and the claimant count is surging.
Employers are being hammered by Angela Rayner’s (Un)Employment Rights Act and Labour’s refusal to rule out MORE taxes.
Only the Conservatives will get Britain working again.
Centre-left Social Democrats and their allies projected to win the Swedish General Election. Magdalena Andersson on course to return as prime minister. Looks like a fantastic result.
Regressive, unmeritocratic and spending public money badly are key values of the modern Conservative Party - so this policy announcement shouldn't come as a surprise.

This absolutely stinks.
A party so mired in sleaze, criminal investigation and scandal now trying to buy their way out of the hole they dug for themselves.
Our democracy deserves better than these grifters.

The Social Democrats and their allies are narrowly ahead of the right-wing bloc in the latest polls. Will be interesting to see which way the Swedish General Election goes on Sunday.
