#AB1626, our sponsored bill authored by Assemblymember Jesse Gabriel, continues to move forward. The bill passed out of the Assembly Committee on Arts, Entertainment, and Sports with a unanimous 8-0 vote and now heads to the Assembly Committee on Education. AB 1626 will provide mental health training for youth sports coaches, equipping them with tools to recognize early signs of distress and connect student athletes to support. Research shows that only 1 in 5 coaches feel highly confident supporting youth mental health needs, underscoring the importance of this effort. We are proud to co-sponsor this bill alongside Mental Health America of California and the Play Equity Fund as we work to strengthen support systems for young people across California. @JesseGabrielCA @MentalHealthAm @PlayEquityFund
