Absolutely blown away CONCUSSED has been shortlisted for this fantastic award. @BookiePrize
📢 #ICYMI the #WHSBOTY shortlist has been announced 📢
For the first time in our history, four of the six shortlisted books have been written by female authors. Here’s @WilliamHill’s @leephelps with the all-important six-title shortlist.

What we are hearing … absolute respect to Contepomi, cannot have been an easy decision to make.

Nothing to see here apparently…….or that’s what @WorldRugby would have you believe. Quarter of World Rugby’s test group of ex-players ‘at risk’ of cognitive problems. Not surprising sadly, but again what are they doing about it ! 🏉🧠😢😡

A very worrying article about one of #rugbys most #abrasive #players #chabal france24.com/en/live-news/20… – at Galway, Ireland
This is absolutely desperate news.
How desperately, desperately sad
Teenage rugby player dies after injury during match as major club issue statement - Wales Online walesonline.co.uk/sport/rugb…
Still trying to get my head around how refereeing team got this so badly wrong on the night. Subsequent three match ban still feels very light but how on earth was it only deemed yellow at the time? bbc.co.uk/sport/rugby-union/…
The disconnect between rugby’s well intentioned push to reduce head contact and action regarding actual head contact is becoming a chasm. And every time something like this (headbutt) goes unpunished in the pro game, another parent thinks “why would I let my kid play that”?

The 20-minute red is a pox on the game, but no red of any kind for this is just unacceptable. Rugby’s gone down a dark road on this stuff

If rugby wants to be serious about concussion and head injuries, it has to always be a red card if a player is headbutted off the ball - especially while they're lying defenceless on the floor. Needless and dangerous. Ridiculous decision making by the ref. #FRAvSCO #6nations2025

Ok.
A player chose to react, after the whistle, by launching himself at an opponent.
This resulted in a flying headbutt.
The bunker review has considered this, in isolation and all on their own, and decided it’s not even a soft 20min red card.
Great message guys.
Super job.
Just watching the France v Scotland game. When did a flying head butt to another player’s head warrant only a yellow card?

Fascinating watching the U20s live in CAP - on the terrace.
They all tackle so low as a unit.
They're the first generation of 'below-the-sternam' to come through.
And it really shows.
Super effective.

Rugby’s dangerous self-delusion - brilliant to have @PlantedSam writing an evidence-based riposte to Sam Warburton’s recent claims that rugby’s dwindling playing numbers were down to media “scaremongering” and “clickbait” journalism. newstatesman.com/culture/spo…
My article in today’s @NewStatesman on why @samwarburton_ was profoundly wrong to blame rugby’s ills on so-called “clickbait” media coverage of concussion. If only he knew how hard it has been to convince the media it’s a story worth covering.

Desperate news about Dupont if 9 months out is right. Serious questions to be asked about the circumstances in which the injury happened. Whatever the outcome, remember a young man’s livelihood is now potentially at stake and a large part of his world has just collapsed.

Fabien Galthie confirms that it’s a ‘serious’ knee injury for Antoine Dupont.
Also says that France will be citing Tadhg Beirne for the clean out that caused it.
It’s a bad one, off his feet and at the lower limbs.
