قومی اسمبلی میں پی ٹی آئی کی طرفسے مذاکرات دوبارہ شروع کرنے کی درخواست پہ ان کی نذر منیر نیازی کے اشعار کئے۔ ہمیشہ دیر کر دیتا ہوں میں ہر کام کرنے میں ضروری بات کہنی ہو کوئی وعدہ نبھانا ہو اسے آواز دینی ہو اسے واپس بلانا ہو ہمیشہ دیر کر دیتا ہوں میں!

آج مجھے انتہائی خوشی ہے کہ یہ صرف 333 طلبہ نہیں بلکہ 333 گھرانے ہیں جن کے چشم و چراغ ڈاکٹر بن کر نہ صرف اپنے خاندان بلکہ اپنے پسماندہ علاقوں کے لیے ایک قیمتی اثاثہ ثابت ہوں گے۔

وزارتِ منصوبہ بندی، ترقی و خصوصی اقدامات کے چیف انٹرنیشنل ٹریڈ اینڈ فنانس سیکشن، شاہد اقبال صاحب کی وفات کی خبر سن کر دل انتہائی رنجیدہ اور غمگین ہے۔ مرحوم 2004 سے لے کر اپنی آخری سانس تک بے مثال دیانت داری، لگن، وقار اور اخلاص کے ساتھ ریاست کی خدمت میں مصروف رہے۔ پاکستان کی بین الاقوامی تجارت، معاشی پالیسیوں اور ملکی ترقی کے سفر میں ان کا مؤثر کردار ہمیشہ عزت اور قدر کی نگاہ سے یاد رکھا جائے گا۔ وہ نہ صرف ایک انتہائی قابل اور باصلاحیت پبلک سرونٹ تھے بلکہ ایک مشفق اور اعلیٰ اخلاق کے حامل انسان تھے جن کی خدمات وزارت کے لیے ایک قیمتی سرمایہ تھیں۔ میں مرحوم کے تمام سوگوار اہلِ خانہ اور رفقائے کار کے دکھ اور غم میں برابر کا شریک ہوں۔ اللہ تعالیٰ شاہد اقبال صاحب کی مغفرت فرمائے، ان کی تمام قومی و پیشہ ورانہ خدمات کو قبول فرمائے اور انہیں جنت الفردوس میں اعلیٰ مقام عطا فرمائے، آمین۔

Speaking at the Governing Council of the CAREC Institute in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, I emphasised that if the first 25 years of CAREC were about building roads, railways and physical infrastructure, the next 25 years must be about building shared knowledge, skills and know-how. The nations that move ahead in the coming era will be those that learn fastest—from their own experience and from the experience of others. The CAREC Institute must evolve beyond being a traditional research institution into a trusted regional Knowledge Clearing House, ensuring that sound evidence and practical solutions are on the table before policies are made and decisions are taken. For the Institute’s next phase, I proposed five priorities: 1. Establish a dynamic regional knowledge platform; 2. Provide evidence-based briefings ahead of ministerial decisions; 3. Promote structured peer learning among officials; 4. Turn shared challenges into actionable regional projects; and 5. Measure performance by real policy impact, rather than simply by the number of reports published. As Pakistan assumes the CAREC Chairmanship in 2027, we will place knowledge exchange at the heart of our agenda.
