A very relatable moment from 1694: director J. Transchöld was apparently not satisfied with this draft of a letter to the king (we get it, it's a pretty big deal) and left notes in the margin on how to improve it ✒

Archives and leatherbound 2000p. books in all its glory, but this time of year I'm happy to have some "office" work to do. Note that "office" here means oxygen, birdsong and using the cmd + function 🔎 cheers!

Spent yesterday at @ra_sverige in Marieberg and found some pretty interesting things, such as the proxy (=fullmakt) for Gunno Eurelius to be the inspector of land surveyors in Pomerania (dating to 1691). 🌼🌿

Another beautiful (but a bit chilly) Friday in Stockholm! Spent the morning at @ra_sverige - didn't make any huge progress but found another copy of an instruction from 1691, sent to Gunno Eurelius 📜✒

Happy Friday! These kinds of pictures are by now a familiar sight on this account, but what does our process actually look like? 🧵

Transcriptions are put into our very sophisticated system (ehem): an Excel-sheet. It's also home to other relevant information such as the presence of a signature, and if the document found is a copy or the original 📜

It's been a while since we last posted, but we've since returned to @ra_sverige Marieberg! We had the opportunity to speak to one of the employees, who could help point us in the right direction of our search. For that we are very grateful, as it lead us to some findings! ✒

Also, take a look at the size of this book! Most of them were thick, but this was the biggest of the bunch. Some also had this detail of the year on the edges of the pages, and beautiful bindings 📜

Also: a lot of oaths! The same formula used over and over again...

Call for help! Every 17th century typography enthusiast out there, and everyone else, here's a riddle for you to solve: what was on Carolus's mind (aka Charles XI of Sweden)? Comment a word you're able to decipher and then take the weekend off. Happy Friday!

Let's end this week with an assortment of fancy signatures from 1691! Which of these capture that #fridayfeeling best? 🧐Personally I am partial to Leyonflycht's at the very bottom - lots of personality! 🦁✒️ /Maria

Smth for @PlaceNamePolicy ?
#LinguisticLandscapes

Last Thursday was another productive day at the archive in Arninge! Found some interesting things; for example, the scribbled-out note below. ✒🔍 /assistants Julia (pictured) and Maria @ra_sverige
