"But Dostoevsky is only for adolescents!!!"
Dostoevsky, the only psychologist from whom I’ve anything to learn. ― Friedrich Nietzsche Dostoevsky gives me more than any scientist, more than Gauss. ― Albert Einstein The real nineteenth century prophet was Dostoevsky, not Karl Marx. ― Albert Camus

Twitter's life advice is worthless. Read La Rochefoucauld instead. The wretched flicker of your self-esteem will not survive him.

About 100 pages in currently. The peculiar thing about writing a novel is that you never know where it takes you. Sudden impulses have to be followed and suddenly your whole story is vastly different from what you originally planned. It’s crucial to not ignore the daimones.
Writing a novel that’s currently ripping apart long repressed wounds. I feel nauseous.

“It seems to be a law of literature that the more strictly limited its environment is, the more universal its appeal. Faulkner writes of his unpronounceable county in Mississippi and gets the Nobel Prize in Sweden, while novelists writing of the dilemma of modern man would get nowhere.” —Northrop Frye, “Criticism and Environment”
