🛰 🇷🇺 🇫🇮 Specialists tracking this in real time now have harder numbers than "a close pass." Orbital Radar's latest computation puts the closest approach at roughly 26 meters, with earlier passes logged at 136 meters and 578 meters as Kosmos 2612 tightened its formation over multiple orbits, each pass occurring at essentially zero relative velocity, meaning the Russian satellite wasn't drifting past ICEYE-X36, it was flying in matched formation with it.
The deliberateness is no longer a matter of interpretation. Kosmos 2612 launched as part of a six-satellite cluster, Cosmos 2609 through 2614, and it is the only one of the six that has maneuvered at all. LeoLabs, the commercial tracking firm, said in a statement the movement "appears to be a deliberate approach toward" the US-owned satellite. CSIS researchers documented a two-week maneuver sequence beginning September 30 that brought Kosmos 2612 into coplanar alignment and matched altitude with ICEYE-X36, exactly the kind of orbital mechanics work that doesn't happen by accident. Dutch tracker Marco Langbroek, whose data anchors most of this reporting, called it bluntly: "an RPO without consent," rendezvous and proximity operations conducted without the target satellite's cooperation or clearance.
What makes the target non-arbitrary is who relies on it. ICEYE-X36 is a Finnish-built, US-registered radar imaging satellite, and Poland's own military has flagged direct alarm because its forces use ICEYE intelligence to identify targets inside Russia. A Ukrainian official told Axios the military works with ICEYE's capabilities, though it's unconfirmed whether this specific satellite supports Ukrainian operations directly. Either way, the pattern read by trackers across multiple countries is the same: a Russian military asset spent three weeks deliberately burning fuel and adjusting its orbital plane, altitude and eccentricity to shadow, at zero relative velocity and within tens of meters, exactly the kind of Western-linked space asset Russia would want to understand, disable, or demonstrate it can reach.
No tracker has found evidence Kosmos 2612 carries a destructive payload or that it struck ICEYE-X36. What's established instead is a precedent: Russia has now shown the technical willingness and capability to maneuver a military satellite into near-contact proximity with a commercial asset tied to Ukrainian and Polish defense intelligence, holding formation close enough that the only remaining open questions are what Moscow intended and whether the target satellite still functions exactly as it did before.

Una riunione tra grandi della Terra. Putin, Xi e Trump. Altro che Russia come “potenza regionale”, espressione mai perdonata a Barack Obama da Vladimir Vladimirovich. No, al contrario: un vertice storico. Forse addirittura una seconda Yalta, l’occasione per spartirsi nuovamente il mondo, per dividerlo in sfere d’influenza aggiornate alle esigenze di oggi.
Tutti - o quasi - avrebbero da guadagnarci, secondo Mosca. La Russia otterrebbe probabilmente ciò che ricerca da quasi cinque anni senza soddisfazione: se non la resa immediata dell’Ucraina almeno il suo abbandono - conclamato - da parte di Washington. La Cina vedrebbe riconosciuto il proprio status di potenza centrale, decisiva quando si tratta di mediare le questioni più rilevanti del globo. E The Donald? Avrebbe a sua volta ciò che vuole: la fine di una scocciatura, una photo opportunity da consegnare ai libri di storia.
Attenzione. Qui non si tratta di illazioni, di false ricostruzioni. Il Cremlino conferma che l’ipotesi è sul tavolo, che la Russia è in attesa di risposta. Gli Stati Uniti non avrebbero ancora sciolto le proprie riserve, ma nelle idee di Putin sarebbe già tutto pronto, inclusi la data e il luogo: Shenzhen, Cina, il 18-19 novembre, a margine dell’APEC forum.
Perché tutto questo è importante? Perché potrebbe essere questa la nuova “coltellata” temuta da Kyiv da parte di Washington.
E perché saremmo in presenza della violazione del “principio di Zelensky”: “Nulla sull’Ucraina senza l’Ucraina”. Non una legge fisica, ma una regola di buonsenso, se non si vuole scomodare la categoria dell’onore.
E allora? E allora vedrete che nelle prossime ore gli alleati europei chiariranno con tutta la forza di cui dispongono (non molta) la propria contrarietà all’operazione. Lo faranno sperando di convincere Trump, per l’ennesima volta, che non è questo il modo per risolvere la questione. E per chiarire che la guerra in Ucraina riguarda anche gli equilibri della sicurezza in Europa, che nessuno può pensare di gestire questa pratica senza di noi.
Le conseguenze di un tale incontro sarebbero devastanti: se Washington accettasse oggi di discutere il futuro di Kyiv con Pechino e Mosca, quale garanzia avrebbero domani gli alleati europei di non ritrovarsi nella stessa situazione?
Ancora: cosa dovrebbero pensare a Taiwan, sull’isola ribelle che si oppone all’annessione del Dragone? Risposta: dovrebbero semplicemente guardare l’orologio, contare i minuti che li separano dalla stessa sorte.
È il motivo che spiega questo punto nave straordinario, quello che come spesso accade vi raggiunge a notte fonda: Putin ha lanciato il sasso nello stagno. Tutto molto semplice: G3. Noi, la Cina e voi. Esiste il rischio che possa derivarne un maremoto.

Russian Kosmos 2612 and ICEYE-X36 (providing Ukraine military support) are now in perfect sync with each other. The Russian military satellite is intentionally stalking and tracking the Western radar satellite. Keeping a satellite "bumper-to-bumper" in this manner allows Russia to intercept or jam data transmissions, physically inspect Western technology, or quickly pivot to execute a kinetic or non-kinetic anti-satellite (ASAT) attack with very little warning or fuel expenditure.
Kosmos 2612 executed a series of highly precise, fuel-heavy maneuvers to force itself into a "coplanar" orbit—matching ICEYE-X36's exact altitude (~555 km), speed, and inclination (~97.8°). The ICEYE-X36 satellite is giving the Ukraine military support.

➡️ Seit der vergangenen Nacht funktionieren Starlink und/oder der militärische Ableger Starshield bei ukrainischen Drohnen ab einer bestimmten Geschwindigkeit nicht mehr.
➡️ Zunächst war von einem Verbindungsabbruch ab 160 km/h die Rede. Mittlerweile wurde bestätigt, dass die Drohnen bereits ab 70 km/h nicht mehr über Elon Musks System gesteuert werden können.
Das hat weitreichende Implikationen – allesamt katastrophal für die ukrainischen Streitkräfte und das transatlantische Verhältnis.
1. Mid-Range-Strikes werden nahezu unmöglich.
Bei Angriffen auf Ziele in einer Entfernung von 25 bis 150 Kilometern setzt die Ukraine fast ausschließlich auf Starlink-gesteuerte Drohnen, allen voran die „Hornet“, aber auch einheimische Alternativen. Diese Angriffe auf die russische Logistik in Richtung Front und in den besetzten Gebieten sind seit heute Morgen nicht mehr möglich.
2. Deep Strikes werden erheblich erschwert.
Auch zahlreiche Langstreckendrohnen nutzen Starlink als redundantes Kommunikationssystem, obwohl die Funktionalität über russischem Gebiet ohnehin eingeschränkt ist. Diese Angriffe werden durch den Ausfall ebenfalls erschwert.
3. Die Kommunikation am Boden funktioniert bislang weiter.
Starlink-Terminals, die zur Kommunikation zwischen ukrainischen Stellungen eingesetzt werden, sind bislang(!) nicht betroffen. Gleiches gilt für Starlink-Systeme auf unbemannten Bodenfahrzeugen (UGVs), die aufgrund ihrer geringen Geschwindigkeit offenbar weiterhin funktionieren.
4. Ohne Starlink wäre die ukrainische Armee verloren.
Können Mid- und Deep-Strikes nicht rasch wieder aufgenommen werden, drohen verheerende Konsequenzen für die Front. Russlands Offensive ist seit der nur noch einseitigen Nutzung von Starlink innerhalb der Ukraine im Februar 2026 um mehr als 80% verlangsamt worden. Möglich, dass sie bei anhaltendem Wegfall der Drohnen-Komponente für die ukrainischen Streitkräfte wieder auf das Niveau vom Vorjahr zurückbeschleunigt. Stoppen Musk und Trump Starlink für die Ukraine komplett – also auch die Kommunikation am Boden – käme es zur Katastrophe für die ukrainische Armee.
5. Polen kann das Problem nicht allein lösen.
Polen finanziert nur einen Teil der Starlink-Systeme in der Ukraine. Rund 3.000 Starshield-Einheiten werden vom US-Verteidigungsministerium bereitgestellt. Warschau kann deshalb nur begrenzt Einfluss nehmen. Um den Hochgeschwindigkeitsbetrieb der betroffenen Terminals wiederherzustellen, müssten die USA selbst aktiv werden und die entsprechenden Funktionen erneut freischalten.
6. Ein fatales Signal für den gesamten Westen.
Dass Elon Musk ein militärisch kritisches Kommunikationssystem offenbar im Einklang mit der prorussisch ausgerichteten Politik Donald Trumps einschränken oder abschalten kann, ist eine Hiobsbotschaft für den gesamten Westen. Die Abhängigkeit von einem privaten Technologieanbieter, dessen Entscheidungen unmittelbare Auswirkungen auf die militärische Handlungsfähigkeit eines Verbündeten haben, wirft grundsätzliche Fragen auf.
7. Verquickung von Staat und Wirtschaft wie in autoritären Systemen.
Eine solche Verquickung staatlicher Macht mit privaten Unternehmensinteressen kennt man vor allem aus autoritär regierten Staaten. Auch mit Blick auf die Abhängigkeit von US-amerikanischen Waffensystemen wie dem Kampfflugzeug F-35, dem Gefechtsmanagementsystem Delta und anderen kritischen Technologien muss der Westen daraus Konsequenzen ziehen.

Speaking to the press aboard Air Force One today, Trump accused Ukraine of election interference by bombing bot farms in Russia earlier this week, leading to a sharp decrease social media activity worldwide.
"They are gonna pay," Trump said.

Most depressingly, the Navy chief said there was no exit strategy of any kind. “He doesn’t see any way we get out of there anytime soon. No clear path to victory,” Hall added.
The USS Abraham Lincoln was one of 85 ships in the waters near Iran—and all were from the US, as they were not getting support from any other country.
Trump’s frequent claims that Iran had no remaining air force or navy were clearly inaccurate as the US ship was under continuous pressure from the Iranians.
“He said they were under attack constantly. On defense 24 hours. Not allowed to retaliate. Complete disarray in orders from sending planes to attack one minute to blockade & babysitting ships the next. They just sailed circles for months with no clear objective,” Hall said.

He was referring to a statement put out by the Texas Catholic Conference of Bishops condemning Hegseth's plan to livestream Hasan's execution because it would "make a spectacle of death" and fail to achieve "true justice." Broglio was no doubt drawing attention to the Texas bishops' statement specifically because Hasan committed his mass shooting at Fort Hood in Killeen, Texas.
While we have absolutely zero sympathy for Hasan, we also adamantly oppose MAGA's efforts to turn us into an even more bloodthirsty nation where public killings are broadcast for the entertainment of the masses. We are the United States of America, not ancient Rome.

Will the exposure of a live-stream to the young and impressionable during the 250th anniversary year of our independence be able to be repaired?"
"The US military generally enjoys a good reputation in the world," he continued. "Is there really a value to throwing them in the same boat with terrorists by broadcasting the image of the execution of a man in a wheel chair to the whole world? Does this decision reflect the dignity of the human person?"
“I call upon all men and women of good will to ask that this decision be reconsidered and, at the very least, do what is possible to keep the exposure to the live-streaming of the proposed execution from the vision of the young and impressionable," he went on.

Regardless of one's thinking about the Catholic Church's teachings on other issues, we wholeheartedly agree with their staunch opposition to the death penalty and particularly public executions.
Hegseth and Trump want to normalize this kind of brutality — likely setting the stage for even more heinous displays of fascist violence — and at the same time they know that it's red meat for their mindless, jabbering base who will delight in watching a Muslim be killed on television. The moral weight of history is on our side. We must stand up and stop this.

A new Haaretz investigation by Yaniv Kubovich (Oct takes the NAZA system the film exposed and shows how it was built and who set the defaults using four witnesses from Military Intelligence and the drone array:
1) A drone operator says that from the first day the array was set to the "expanded" fire tier (anyone ever identified with Hamas) and to NAZA level 3 by default. Up to 20 dead civilians per strike needed no sign-off from anyone outside the strike cell. The 20 was the baseline, not an escalation.
2) The film described a "factory of targets." Haaretz describes who staffed it. Reservists who had never served in intelligence were brought into the Targets Directorate and "searched for the most negligible targets, the small fry." Anyone with Hamas symbols on Facebook was marked. "It's at the level that we struck Hamas drivers."
3) The target category expanded until it covered the entire population. Before Oct 7, only brigade commanders and up. Then drivers. Then any adult male within 300 meters of troops. Then anyone entering a damaged building to retrieve blankets.
4) The Jabaliya strike on Ibrahim Biari (Oct 31, 2023). Haaretz adds the decision chain. The buildings were chosen because they sat over a tunnel, they were still populated, and "we did not carry out an evacuation, because it was important to kill him without him escaping." Aman's estimate was 250 to 300 civilians, so the decision went to the chief of staff. He approved it. The post-strike count: about 250 dead, for a battalion commander who weeks earlier "was not even considered a collection target of ours."
5) When the number got too big to approve, they stopped approving and kept striking. One cell calculated roughly 1,000 civilians still inside high-rises on an entry route into Gaza City. "NAZA 1,000 was not approved there. Instead it was approved to begin striking and allow the residents to flee during the operation." The ceiling was removed by relabeling.
6) Dissent was punished. Soldiers argued over killing "looters," meaning Palestinians retrieving food and bedding from damaged homes. A unit commander threatened to remove anyone who kept using the word "looters" or questioned the word "targets."
7) The IDF lied about results in real time. On the strike on Nukhba commander Ali Qadi, at home with his family: "In practice Qadi was the only one who survived the strike. None of the dead were connected to the target."
8) After March 2025 the strategic rationale was gone and the killing continued at the same settings. One operator describes a junior target "standing in the garden with his family, washing the children with a hose," seconds from launch. Colleagues still wanted to fire. "I felt we were reaching our moral edge."
It is now becoming clear how these orders led to mass slaughter. There was no decision to kill everyone. It just escalated endlessly and the bloodlust and thirst for revenge made sure it never stopped escalating. The genocide continues.

Russia does NOT have enough diesel to supply its OWN needs. Especially since Ukraine has been destroying its refining plants. Russia is now getting its fuel needs met by IRAN.
The border of Iran is only a hundred miles from the border of Russia by truck, and only 500 miles by sea - they are connected by the Caspian Sea. And oil and petroleum products have been flowing to Russia steadily from Iran, all the time both the Ukraine War and the Iran War have been going on.
It's the reason Russia has been able to keep going, despite Ukraine's bombardments. It's the reason that Iran has kept going despite Trump's blockade of the Strait.
And THAT is the reason the United States has declared SANCTIONS on BOTH countries' export of oil, during all this time. Including NEW US sanctions and tariffs on nations that import Russian oil and gas, passed almost UNANIMOUSLY by Congress just weeks ago.
Yes. The "Lindsey O. Graham Sanctioning Russia and Iran Act of 2026". TRUMP himself SIGNED IT INTO LAW on September 18, 2026.
