Three waves of ballistic missiles have been launched at Kyiv by Russian “humanitarians” since yesterday evening. They used 21 missiles. Unfortunately, numerous sites across the city have been hit and damaged: ordinary residential buildings, energy facilities, infrastructure at one of the railway stations and the metro, shopping malls, and businesses. Even a monastery is among the damaged sites. Our emergency services are working at all the affected locations. Twelve of our regions came under Russian attack overnight. In Kyiv and across the regions, 34 people were injured, including five children. As of now, two people have been confirmed killed. My condolences to their families and loved ones. Almost immediately after another round of talks, Russia launched a pointed attack. This means there has been no real change in its attitude toward everything that is happening. It is important to keep trying to find the right solutions to end this war. But when Russia responds to negotiations with ballistic missiles, real pressure on Russia is needed to bring about different steps – steps toward ending the killing. Stronger air defenses and the rapid delivery of missiles, the ability to destroy ballistic missile launchers, sanctions over the war – all of this must be in place. I am grateful to everyone who sees the situation for what it is and acknowledges the reality. The aggressor deserves to be treated accordingly. Ukraine deserves support. People's lives deserve protection. Thank you to everyone who stands with Ukraine!

Interesting and humbling how Harry Kane never talks about why he deserves the Ballon D'Or, just let's his football do the talking. Mind you @FabrizioRomano never talks about it either, but both he and Yamine talk about why Yamine should win it. Right? @indykaila

🔥🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 Harry Kane, unstoppable with England as he’s just scored his 11th goal of the season for club and country. Assist delivered by Morgan Rogers.

🔴 Anfield is becoming a problem for Liverpool. Andoni Iraola gets his first sample of fans leaving before the end on a day of frustration against Fulham ✍🏻 Live report telegraph.co.uk/football/202…

No fall-back full-back options? It's been clear for a while that Manchester United need a left-back and Liverpool need a right-back. Strange such obvious deficiencies not addressed this window. Clubs will doubtless have their reasons. United - an enduring belief in the experienced but ageing Shaw, 31? Liverpool - a hope that Frimpong comes good? Or simply couldn't find or land the ones they wanted. Whatever the reason for the lack of movement, it looks a mistake. #MUFC #LFC

🟥 Hughes Has Lost the Plot - He Should Be On Gardening Leave Richard Hughes has reached desperation stakes. I’ve got no issue with Yankuba Minteh as a player. He’s talented, quick, direct and, as a squad option, there is plenty to like. But nine goals and eight assists in 66 Premier League appearances is hardly a record that should have Liverpool losing their heads. And now he’s injured. Surgery, another eight weeks out, Liverpool apparently bidding £50m anyway. What on earth are we doing? If Minteh was genuinely the man, why was this not dealt with in June? Why wait all summer? Why wait until the lad is unavailable? Why make an offer Brighton were always likely to reject? I would love to believe this is some clever attempt to flush PSG out over Bradley Barcola or Ibrahim Mbaye. I really would. I simply do not have enough faith in Hughes to believe there is that level of cunning behind it. This reeks of a plan collapsing and somebody scrambling for the next name on the list. Hughes should be on gardening leave, waiting for his first Saudi pay cheque, nowhere near decisions that could shape Liverpool for years. FSG allowing an outgoing sporting director to preside over a window this important is gross negligence. And perhaps one day, amid all the breathless updates about bids, shortlists and “interest”, a few more people with the loudest platforms might ask who is actually responsible for this mess. Liverpool have the money. They have a new manager who needs backing. They have known their weaknesses for months. There are no excuses left.

🛑Burnham’s suggestion that every community needs to “play their part” accepting bus loads of foreign men who have broken into our country is stunningly, Starmer level, tone deaf. The only part we want to play is deporting them.

Gianni Infantino signs letter on behalf of FIFA in full support of Gianni Infantino.

Devastating blow for Infantino after Asian football confederation issues damning statement.

It’s definitely over, Gianni. 55+41+47 adds up to defeat. Asian Football Confederation adds its weight to UEFA and CONCACAF stance. AFC “believes that the proposed FFE cannot realistically achieve the necessary broad consensus and unity required to move forward”. 👇

Really impressed by Ifeanyi Ndukwe last night. Young defender composed in possession and commanding defensively. It’s a shame LFC can’t use him this season as he doesn’t have the required points to get a work visa for UK and will need to be loaned out. nytimes.com/athletic/7470283…
