PLEASE READ THIS AND WAKE UP:
I’m posting this again because I want everybody to realise that we are the biggest fucking suckers in Europe.
We and the EU are paying to subsidise Ukrainian citizens so they can have some of the cheapest electricity prices in Europe, while we charge our own citizens rip-off rates to keep this madness going.
Zelenskyy’s government is spending billions of euros, much of it coming from the EU and our money, to keep electricity prices for Ukrainians seven times cheaper than ours.
We are the biggest bunch of suckers in the EU.
When are you all going to wake up?
Here is the absolute madness of it all.
Ireland now has the most expensive household electricity in Europe, yet Irish families are expected to swallow these scandalous prices with no universal electricity credit or meaningful protection from the State.
Meanwhile, Ukraine has one of the cheapest household electricity tariffs in Europe, approximately seven times cheaper than Ireland’s. In 2025 alone, Ukraine’s household electricity subsidy was estimated at 180 billion hryvnia, or roughly €3.8 billion.
Europe, including Ireland, is providing Ukraine with billions in financial assistance. That support helps sustain Ukraine’s overall public finances while its government protects its citizens from unaffordable electricity prices.
Irish taxpayers have every right to be furious when our own Government insists that it cannot meaningfully subsidise or reduce our rip-off electricity prices but give away billions that goes towards other countries electricity.
Apparently, protecting people from extortionate energy bills is possible everywhere except Ireland. We are expected to fund everyone else while being fleeced in our own homes.

The team at Artificial Idiots have produced one of the funniest political sketches I've seen in a long time.
The "solar-powered submarine" alone is worth watching.
Brilliant satire. Brilliant writing.
