Just remember, the privately owned "public benefit" entity known as The Fed currently has about a $1 TRILLION loss on the bonds they YOLO purchased during COVID.

$BAFN trades at $6.50 because: 1)Ken’s well deserved reputation 2)1M shares went into the all cap index 3)375k may go into the Russell 4)The $3.50 PP buyers agreed to be locked up till Oct 30, not coincidentally the Russell cutoff date. 5) The borrow is difficult
$BAFN shareholders did not exercise their free rights to buy more shares at $3.50 when it was trading at $7. 749,535 shares worth. It never ceases to amaze me when this free money is passed up but it happens every time.

The likely outcome for $BAFN is continued fixing of the Leo/Zernick/Oliver mess and a sale in 3 years for something near today’s $6.50- If all goes well with Al Rogers and his new crew which looks like the case with recent Tampa deposit wins from $VLY

MFBP should put out a release to compare the two bids. I calculate that combined company needs to trade at 1.5x TBV for TBBC bid to match Optus bid

Brian Fantana once said that when bank stocks break correlations with slope in the YC, 80% of the time it works everytime. in the reply are my thoughts on what to do when this breaks and other bank fun.

The 4th time is a charm. Rocco tried to both sell Parkway Bank and bring in new investors many times over the past 15 years.

My guess is $WAFd is (1) huge embedded losses on fixed rate loans meant ROE would drag for years (2) didn’t have stock price to buy others (3) CEO had plane crash and remarriage in last few years and so less patience for the grind ahead (4) so merge into a bigger market cap and trigger the change in control. The corollary to (1) is they had the embedded rate risk because that was the only way they added value for the customers.

It looks like Charles Willis’ 10b5-1 trading plan was terminated and he’s finished selling $WLFC for at least 120 days. Maybe the $8M he got will keep him in the chips for even longer?
