Project planning meeting with the @MetroWestCLE team this morning. Thanks to a $75k grant from the Cleveland Tree Coalition, we’re going to plant 50 trees between Clark Ave and Storer Ave on W. 65th in Stockyards this month. Coming in 2025: Greening up Storer Ave.
Abolishing the electoral college - or at least making it proportional like Maine and Nebraska - is something I have always felt very strongly about. Radiolab does an excellent job explaining how it was created and how close we've come to getting rid of it. radiolab.org/podcast/the-unp…

HUGE shoutout to @HFandG Tree Corps for their help with re-mulching, staking & pruning of over two dozen young(ish) trees @CityofCleveland City Hall today. This included hauling hundreds of lbs of stone from tree pits for nearly 6 hours. These trees are looking so much better.
Check out this new sidewalk material being piloted in different parts of the city (Flexipave). Its flexible, porous, 2" composition allows tree roots to do their thing without cracking or popping the walking path while also absorbing stormwater. Another tool in the toolbox.
More tree wins: Over two dozen added to the newly revamped Lake Pool Park. Brought @NewsHour here a few yrs ago to highlight CLE’s low canopy. Also helped secure $75k (thanks @WRLConservancy) w/ @MetroWestCLE for 50 plantings on W. 65 between Clark and Storer Ave in Stockyards.
Tonight’s sunset via the Guardians bridge. Stopped my run for this one. Tonight’s moon almost as good.
Old Brooklyn Street Fest was well done. Bonus: got to watch that Guardians grand slam while drinking a beer in the middle of Broadview. Pretty unique and memorable. Great job @OBCDC and @CouncilMaurer
30 trees added to Wilson Elementary in St. Clair Superior this morning. Join us next week for Part 2: wrlandconservancy.org/event/…

Was asked to speak to Lakewood City Council tonight about Cleveland’s Complete & Green Street program. Lakewood is looking to incorporate their own policy so @jacobvanbicycle and I shared some insight as to Cleveland’s evolution. Thanks to @KyleGBaker for the invite.

First volunteer event of the fall w/ @WRLConservancy. Measured the growth progress (plus some weeding) of trees planted last fall in the Buckeye-Woodhill neighborhood. Got caught in the rain but were able to get the work done. Upcoming volunteer ops at: wrlandconservancy.org/events…
Thanks to @ClevelandState Magazine for the coverage of Every Street Cleveland! Great photos, too. (Finally got to break out my CSU shirt).

Finished reading ‘Our Urban Future’, a newish book on urban sustainability by a couple of profs from the U. of Chicago. Nice mix of green infrastructure + transportation + neighborhood design/planning + relevant sidebar studies/readings throughout. Available at @Cleveland_PL
