It's janky, it looks like shit - but man will it make your asshole clench with the power of a thousand suns. You can play Hex Bots alone, but please, for the love of everything unholy, try it with someone else, like God himself intended. It's free, so you have no excuse.

Sorry for the AI, but I had to fight fire with fire in this case.

🧵Don't give up. Yes, within half a year gaming platforms will be 90% slop, inevitable when idea guys with no skill or experience can shit them out in a day. And there is definitely an audience on Steam that doesn't care how games are made and will play slop. But... 1/10
AI is increasingly making me feel there is no point in trying to remain in indie gamedev, not sure there is much of a niche left that i'd like to make games for that won't get cloned in a day.

I keep seeing indie devs giving up on their dream & passion because "AI can decompile & clone any game now." Maybe it can, but my dream is to create my own games so I'm going to do that & if I become a hobo, starve & die, whelp at least I did it chasing my dreams I guess.

I find it interesting how people view AI as this thing that will progress humanity so far, but it only works by training on human data. If we stop creating without AI, we are forever going to be stuck with 2026 music, 2026 programming, 2026 art, and so on. Is that progress?

Music also evolved through world events, like wars, tragedies, but also good times. Human related events. If all music is AI generated, we can't get new genres, we can't get new styles, we can't get new trends. This is apparently progress.

"That's not how AI works" Oh, so AI companies have not been scraping the internet for human made data? They did not buy millions of old books to scan them for training because the internet is now polluted with AI generated slop?

Help me get this human slop to 100 reviews. But play it with a friend, solo isn't nearly as good as multiplayer.

Dudes in my mentions are like: “having to learn to code was gatekeeping me from creating software” This is like saying that having to hit the gym is gatekeeping you from having six pack abs.

If AI is so inevitable, and our efforts to fight it is so pointless... Why exactly are you here arguing with us? Should you not just ignore us and keep using AI freely? Why are you so afraid of us if we can't make a change anyway?

New meta: Finish making a game without saying a word, promote the living shit out of it for 1-2 weeks, faster than a game can be approved on Steam, then release it and hope for the best.
An indie dev shares their game. Others copy it. Now you have to work out which one came first. 4 games. The same name. This is what worries me about AI cloning. A copy doesn’t have to be better. It just has to be confusing enough to draw attention away from the original.

Unity is doing so much free marketing for Godot these days
Introducing Unity Spark — a new way to create a game, iterate on it with others, publish it, and play it - all without writing a line of code. You'll build with artist-created assets from the Unity Asset Store, and then you can take your game to the next level by refining it in a new web-based editor. Prompt it. Perfect it. Publish it. Inspired games, with artist-created assets, built on Unity. Closed beta coming soon.

Every time Unity reloads scripts or if I enter play mode, the version control tab is highlighted. This is extremely annoying because it means I have to click "console" or "project" every single time I enter play mode. Is there any way to turn off this feature?

"The market will regulate itself" Yes. We are the market. And we are regulating it. The market is just people, aka customers. If customers don't like a product, for any reason, they will stop buying it, and they will talk about it online. Like we are doing with AI products.

If my point didnt come across, it seems like this AI bro is realizing that *if* AI gets to this point, which they are praying for, prompters will be completely redundant, and promoting won't be a thing of the future (not that its really a thing right now though)
