⚠️CALLING FOR HELP FROM CONTENT CREATORS AND VTUBERS!⚠️ I have been on and off streaming for a about 3 - 4 years now. I started as a faceless streamer, then went to PNGtubing, and now we have a fully fleged vtuber model! I want to push myself the best i can be, but I have no idea where to start, no idea how to push myself out there to an audience of people that might want to watch my kind of content ! So I ask all of you, how did you gain an auidence? What stuck? What worked and what didn't. What are some things I can do as a content creator to get myself out there. When I was attending Anime NYC, I had an extremely fun time, talked and hanged out with new people! However that being said... id like to talk about a few issues I had with the convention, what needs to be changed for next year. 🚨Thieving And Scammers. the stories I've been seeing on my Twitter about constant thieving, and scammers entering the premises are very dishearting. Anime NYC has a HUGE issue when it comes to being able to stop crime within the confines of the convention. It's gotten so bad that us con-goers can't even pick stuff up anymore. Now im not saying that to complain, however im saying it as a point to be made. If I can't pick something up in fear of somebody stealing it, then it must mean that its A HUGE flaw. On my second day, I was approached by a person asking for donations, which shouldn't be the case at all. It was a blatant scam. He didn't even have a badge, and throughout the entire convention, there was instances where I overheard people saying that a certain booth got robbed, or taken advantage of. Twitter is FILLED with stories like this as well. This NEEDS to be fixed. (On another note, I also wanted to add that at some of the booths, there was reports of some of them using card skimmers to steal credit card information, but thats a whole seperate issue entirely) 🚓 Lack of Security. (Kinda) Another thing I noticed was the lack of security. What do I mean by this? Well. All you need to do to enter the con is flash the backside of your badge to show the laminated back. I will admit, making the back of the badge laminated to prove its a legitimate badge is smart, but its not enough to prevent people with fake badges and alterior motives from entering. They don't even stop you to see if the badge you have is even real. Why is this important? Well it ties into the first issue, it prevents scammers and thieves from being able to easily enter with a fake badge. There was security at the convention, but I barely saw them. I felt as if there was nothing stopping another person from stealing half the time due to the lack of security. At other conventions I've been too security has been present. 🎟 Overselling of tickets. (SPECIFICALLY SATURDAY) The third issue I had with the convention was the overselling of tickets of Saturday in specific. There was moments during Saturday where I couldn't even move due to the sheer amount of people surrounding me. I could BARELY even breathe due to literally being suffocated by surrounding people. (Not their fault at all by the way). Everyone deserves to go to a convention, its a wonderful experience, and i am aware that Saturday is one of the biggest days; but this was almost too much. Too overwhelming. There was barely an area where I can stand without somebody being pressed up against me. I felt almost exhausted just standing up. There are real life instances where overcrowded areas lead to tragedy. I don't want anime NYC to fall victim to that too. 👤Lack of guests and company appearances This one's going to be short and simple. Sure some of the bigger companies were there (Hidive, Crunchyroll, ect) but most booths were lacking compared to last year. Some of the booths I even questioned. Like... cmon. There was a literal cat food booth.. in an ANIME convention. Like? Hello? ✨️conclusion These things need to be fixed. However despite all this i had a good time. As much as I am upset that I didn't get to meet @Ironmouse today (my own fault never signed up for the meet up raffle) I still really enjoyed the concert and her presence at the convention !
