My newest @SuperRare #cryptoart piece, The Shogun's Specter, is now online !
Was playing around with the @RengokuLegends Discord Clan Wars while I started this, hence the Samurai theme I got fixated on.

Fun fact
When @Peter_Bock minted this artwork in 2019 $xlm (stellar), $xrp, $ltc and $eos were considered serious threats to $eth and $btc
Same old story

After learning about ancient Aztec obsidian mirrors I couldn’t help but think we’re living in a time where we really are able to commune with non human entities through black portals. Not only do we have access to those created by others but soon we’ll likely have our own AI agents who reflect our personalities and potentially deepest secrets back at us.
I was offered access to this incredible multi dimensional XR cube medium by @sutu_eats_flies and @eyejackapp and The Obsidan Mirror was born. Please check it out. You can collect an edition for 25 tez on @objktcom and view in VR headsets, via AR on your hand held pocket portal device or just spin it around on the site. Please take a minute to explore all faces of the cube. Cheers. 🙏

The Future Shock edition was today capped at 12 pieces. Thank you so much to you all. This was made during a dark time where life at home was hard and the war was just breaking out on our timelines. The creation of it helped me and the support of my collectors is priceless. Thank you @ArtPetio, @theWIPmeetup and @NiftyKitApp for the group show.

It’s been a while! But an art post!
I have been exploring more. I really love the low contrast-desaturated palettes, so I’m going forward with that.
My procedural tools are working fantastically right now, and I really dig the flow and integration they have in the rest of the character. I will pushing that further in the next few works
I went back to clay. Most people mention the sculptural quality my work has. Maybe it’s time to embrace that?
Still got a lot of things to think about. But I’m happy with where it is going. I hope you will like these posts as much as my CSI adventures!

Disclosure of medium and tools is crucial for digital art. But it is not for the reason you think it is.
Physical work can be analysed with different technologies. We can see how many layers of paints where used, where the paint comes from, what the brush was etc. All of that gives us a fuller story of the work, not just how it is made, but also the context of the culture it was made in.
You can not analyse digital art in that way. Everything is flattened down to pixels, and when that happens a lot of the “how” disappears. All that we are left with are the artefacts that where created while saving the image. Every download, the image degrades in quality to the original, and the opportunity for a future historian to learn from it diminishes. If you take a photograph or AI work, and re-save it a few 100 times any pixel level information about its creation is gone. So we simply can not discern between the two anymore at some point.
Adobe, Maxon, Stable Difussion, Procreate, are all companies that can cease to exist in the next 100 years. It perfectly possible that in the future no one has ever heard of them. But if your lucky your art is still there, with the description you gave it. That description will give your work context in history.
My work is usually accompanied with something like this :
“This artwork was created in July 2023. It was produced using Houdini, Zbrush, Substance Designer, Adobe Photoshop and Octane render”
It’s not there for my contemporaries, most knowledgeable people will see this by looking at the work. Although Houdini might be a tad weird. But for historians, there is a whole story here about me simply being able to (barely) afford the licenses, and the life I’m living. And when they go through all my work they will see the list of tools grow and diminish, showing my relation to the tools and the debate around them.
So as a conclusion, post your medium and tools for the inevitable future in which it will be impossible to tell how it is made, without you leaving something behind.
