The Bible warned us people would call evil good and good evil. Look around. We're there. Sin gets applauded. Holiness gets mocked. Truth gets called hate. Don't be shocked. Stay close to the Word. 🔥

Eugene 'Doc' Roe and Don Malarkey are portrayed by Shane Taylor and Scott Grimes in "Band of Brothers". Here, they are pictured in their later years. Roe returned to Louisiana and became a construction contractor after the war. Malarkey went home to Oregon, finished college, and worked as a car salesman before becoming involved in commercial real estate. It was Doc Roe who broke the news to Malarkey that his close friends Skip Muck and Alex Penkala had been killed by artillery when their fox hole took a direct hit just outside of Foy, Belgium during the Battle of the Bulge. Malarkey spoke highly of Roe's courage during the battle. He also could see that it was taking its toll on him, stating in his book, "Wounded men were Roe’s stock-in-trade. And he’d seen more death than anyone else in the unit. To the rest of us, death was some rogue wave that would crash down on us from time to time. Hell, Roe was standing out in the surf every day, taking one shot after another. Since we’d got to Bastogne—bloodier than any other place we’d been—Roe was getting a bit of that thousand-yard stare himself. Quieter. You could tell it was getting to him. And who could blame him?" The Easy Company veterans would later describe Roe's ability to reach the wounded as being almost superhuman, noting that he was an angel. #bandofbrothers #ww2 #easycompany #WWIIHistory #WWII

None of THE FEW lost their lives this day…the 19th.October 1940. RAF fighter patrols remained active throughout the day, flying over 40 sorties in total. Around 10,000 Londoners took up residence in the Chislehurst caves, offering relative safety from the nightly raids.

18 October 1943. 2nd Lt. Robert Wade Biesecker and his crew from the 569th Bomb Squadron, 390th Bomb Group, Eighth Air Force, pose with their B-17 Flying Fortress "Honey Chile" (serial 42-31027) at RAF Framlingham in Suffolk, England. Joining them are the crew's two mascots, a dog named Scrappy and a monkey named Joe. Scrappy was given to the crew during training in the States and flew the Atlantic with them to England. Joe was picked up at another station, and the two quickly became inseparable. Joe was often seen riding around the base on Scrappy's back. Bob Biesecker was a 24-year-old from North Carolina who enlisted on 31 March 1942. Before the war he worked as a sales agent, and he was already married to 21-year-old Dorothy Rankin of Vancouver. On 18 May 1944, seven months to the day after this photo was taken, Biesecker was flying another B-17, "Rick-O-Shay III" (serial 42-37925) of the 571st Bomb Squadron, on a mission to Augsburg when six Me 109s attacked his aircraft. The bomber exploded and went down just south of Lahr, near the Black Forest. Three crewmen managed to bail out. Biesecker was killed. He rests at Lorraine American Cemetery in St. Avold, France, Plot G, Row 5, Grave 19. Dorothy later remarried and passed away in May 2000. She was survived by a daughter, three grandchildren, a sister, a brother, and several nieces and nephews.

Richard "Dick" Winters is the most well-known member of Easy Company and the central figure in Band of Brothers. This is largely due to his exemplary leadership, his courage, and the respect he earned from the men under him. During WWII, Winters rose to the rank of major and was awarded the Distinguished Service Cross. However, he always remained humble and never associated himself with being a hero. Winters later recalled a letter that Mike Ranney wrote to him. Ranney stated, “I cherish the memories of a question my grandson asked me the other day when he said, 'Grandpa, were you a hero in the war?' Grandpa said, 'No, but I served in a company of heroes.'” #BandofBrothers #DickWinters #ww2 #DamianLewis #ww2history #WWII

They were at war. His orders were to kill them. He saved 422 of them instead. 1942. The Java Sea. British warships were sunk. 422 Allied sailors were floating in burning oil, surrounded by sharks, waiting to die. Then, a Japanese destroyer appeared. The drowning sailors closed their eyes. They expected machine-gun fire. Instead, Captain Shunsaku Kudo hoisted the rescue flag. For five straight hours, in submarine-infested waters, his crew pulled every single enemy from the sea. They washed the oil from their burning eyes. They shared their own fresh water and biscuits. Then, Captain Kudo walked onto the deck, saluted the captured British officers, and spoke in English: "You fought bravely. Today, you are the honored guests of the Imperial Japanese Navy." He delivered all 422 men safely to a hospital ship. And after the war? He never told a soul. Not his friends. Not even his wife. He took it to his grave. Save the enemy at the risk of your own life. Then speak of it to no one. This is who we are.
