ARRESTS| We have arrested four people following reports a teenage boy was assaulted in the Everton area this afternoon, Wednesday 21 October.
At around 2.15pm, officers were called to The Lutine Bell on Breck Road to reports of a 16-year-old boy being assaulted nearby.
The victim was taken to hospital with head and chest injuries. He remains in hospital in a serious condition.
Following enquiries a 16 year-old male has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder.
A 15 year-old male has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder
A 37 year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender
A 41 year-old woman has been arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender
All four are currently in custody and enquiries are ongoing.
Detective Chief Inspector Paula Jones said: "Although we have four people in custody we are continuing to appeal for anyone who was in the area of Breck Road shortly after 2pm and saw, heard or captured anything please get in touch.
“You may also live or work nearby and witnessed people running off at the time. Pass on all information and we will make the assessment."
Road closures remain in place in the local area this evening.

#APPEAL | We can confirm that officers are in Everton following a serious assault this afternoon, Wednesday 21 October.
At around 2.15pm, officers were called to The Lutine Bell on Breck Road to reports of a 16-year-old boy being assaulted nearby.
The victim has been taken to hospital for assessment, having sustained head and chest injuries.
Detective Chief Inspector Steve Ball said 🗣️ "These are the very early stages of our investigation and officers will be in the area carrying out their work.
"If you were in the vicinity of Breck Road shortly after 2pm and saw, heard or captured anything please come forward straight away, so we can identify those responsible. You may also live or work nearby and witnessed people running off at the time. Pass on all information and we will make the assessment."
A road closure is in place on Breck Road at the junction of Breckfield Road North. Please avoid the area and thanks for your patience.

In the interests of upholding the authority of the courts and the integrity of the administration of justice, I have submitted a detailed complaint to the relevant court concerning online commentary relating to ongoing criminal proceedings.
My concerns centre upon the protection of jurors, the independence of the judicial process and the fundamental right of every defendant to a fair trial.
The matters raised are for the appropriate authorities to assess. I make no assertion that contempt of court or any other unlawful conduct has been established, and will not publish the substance of the complaint while proceedings remain active.
