This is such a silly fishing exercise for discontentment to justify a re join argument. What was Brexit’s aim? Answer: To leave the EU Did we do that? Answer: GB Yes (NI iffy) Every other measure used to breed discontentment is down to what successive Governments actually DID with Brexit. Not Brexit itself. From Sunak onwards they’ve drawn us back CLOSER to the EU - and that hasn’t made the country thrive has it! Here’s a novel thought: Get NI out too, get Labour out and then let the country move on…
I want to do a simple survey... Do you think Brexit has been a success? I'll publish the result on Friday.

One of the things that you never see mentioned, by those who suggest the UK should be in the EU Customs Union. EU members have to give the EU 75% of all customs duties collected. The UK collected £5 Billion in customs duties in FY 2025/26. Brexit let us keep £3.75 Billion.

Fair play to Anne Hegerty from the Chase game show. Someone had to say it. The Greens have just voted that Zionism is racism, then told Jewish members not to take it personally. She answered Carla Denyer in one line: “Tell you what. Get your Muslim members to promise they will never attend a mosque that criticises homosexuality. Then we’ll talk.” That’s it. That’s the double standard, said out loud. One lot get told their faith is a problem. The other lot don’t even get asked. Glad a public figure still has the nerve to speak out for what is right. Well Done Ann 👏👏👏

Lots of @TheGreenParty officials posting about how they “don’t agree” with the motion. We are often asked: “What would you have done when they came for the Jews?” Well, your party just did. So either own it or leave it. Enough with the empty posturing.

Agree, it is a dangerous lie which there must be zero tolerance. There is no genocide in Gaza. No intent to destroy in whole or part the civilians of Gaza. There was a war in Gaza where Israel sought to destroy Hamas (the enemy and the goal) while taking extraordinary measures to protect civilians in urban warfare while also providing historic levels of aid to the civilian population.
The lie that Israel perpetrated a genocide in Gaza is not only false. It is dangerous - for Israelis, for Jews and for supporters of Israel across the world. The pro-Israel community should have zero tolerance for this lie and turn its back on all those who parrot it.

I have long held the opinion that in a country crying out for seriuous political leaders, we have a shortlist of one. That impression was confirmed yesterday when Kemi Badenoch released a 100-page summary of her principles – her principles, take note, not her policies – at the start of the Tory conference. When’s the last time you remember a party outlining its beliefs before jumping ahead to firefighting on policy? Well, in 1976, when the Tories published The Right Approach, and the following year, when they released The Right Approach to the Economy. These documents that came before the 1979 manifesto, following the logic that the argument had to come before the programme. After all, if you want to go on a journey without a roadmap and a destination, you end up all over the place, as has been the case with successive governments. Taking this simple truth and building around it is so obvious that it’s amazing how it has been so neglected. I’m not a member of any party (to preserve independent thought) but it could not be clearer that the way Badenoch is building back makes the Tories the only sane party in Britain today. A stark statement, but a true one. The document is quite long, so I have gone through it and broken it down for you. In these recent week of craziness from the Green Party and duplicity from Labour, which followed a slew of financial scandals for Reform, this “Kemistry”, as it has become known, is the one thing that offers any reassurance that Britain is not yet lost. Above all, one sentence stood out: “Labour goes wrong when it follows its principles; we go wrong when we fail to follow ours.” That is deeply correct, and it is why, for all the 14 years of failure, there is simply no alternative to conservative beliefs if we want a secure, prosperous and self-confident future. Here, then, is everything you need to know about the New Conservatives, as I have taken to calling them, and their Kemistry, broken down into seven easy sections... New post. Link in first reply

Israel was never “given” to the Jews. And the Jews certainly never “stole” it. They were already there. A continuous presence in Jerusalem, Hebron, Safed, and Tiberias ran through the Roman expulsions and the Crusader and Arab massacres. And in every century, some of the Jews who had been driven out came back. Zionism did not invent that return. It accelerated it once pogroms in Europe and the Arab world made staying impossible and the United States shut its doors in 1924. Centuries of neglect under Ottoman rule left the Land mostly arid desert and malaria swamps while being sparsely populated. Jews legally bought large tracts at premium prices from absentee Arab landlords in Beirut, Damascus, and Cairo. The rest was state land that passed from the collapsed Ottoman Empire to the British Mandate. That Mandate was conferred at San Remo in 1920 and approved by the League of Nations in 1922 as a reconstitution of the Jewish national home and attached a duty to the British to facilitate immigration and close settlement. The 1939 White Paper broke it, and shut the gate on Jewish refugees in the years they were being slaughtered by Nazi bullets and gas in Europe. The offers of a split came from everyone except the Arab leadership. The Zionist Congress accepted the Peel partition in 1937. The Jewish Agency accepted the UN partition in 1947. The Arab Higher Committee rejected both, and five Arab armies invaded in May 1948 after Israel declared independence and asked the Arabs who stayed to remain as citizens. Arab Secretary General Azzam Pasha said the war against the Jews would be one of “extermination.” The country that survived that war was not handed over in a ceremony and not taken from an empty map. It was defended by the people the international agreement had already named, after the other side chose a war over a border.

⚠️ WARNING: GRAPHIC ⚠️ For three years the only thing the mainstream media, propagandist influencers, and western governments have spoken about is Gaza. And I’m going to be brutally honest… I couldn’t give a flying F about Gaza. I remember how this started. And I remember vividly who started it. I feel nothing, for any of them. He is standing in a house where archaeologists were still pulling bone fragments out of the floor five weeks later. Little bags. Pieces. And the first thing he asks is the only question that matters. What did a ten-month-old do to justify “resistance”? Women hid under dead bodies and watched the assault happen. People ran across open fields. Houses were booby-trapped. It wasn’t only Jews. Arab Muslims were killed that morning too. None of them did anything to deserve it. The rest of the world moved on to the Gaza war and treated October 7 like it was just some footnote. He’s absolutely right. This wasn’t a cable segment and it wasn’t Netflix. A genocidal Islamic jihadist massacre happened here. The war exists because of that morning, and NOT the other way around.

In this laser guided piece @RobbieRinder nails why the Green Parties "Zionism is Racism" motion is both morally wrong & driven by #racistantiracists who dont understand Jewish History & how it is linked to the middle east over 1000's of years. I suggest they read a few books.
Zionism is both historic and spiritual; the ancient connection of the Jewish people to the land of Israel and their right to self-determination in their historic homeland. I am British by birth, belonging and love; Jewish by inheritance, memory and faith. Britain is my country. Israel is not a competing loyalty, it is the homeland of the Jewish people to which I am bound by ancestry, memory and identity. For millions of Jews, that is the heart of Zionism. Not supremacy, dispossession or the killing of Palestinians and not a colonial claim to a foreign land but the self-determination of a people with an ancient and continuous connection to it. In practice, it must mean two peoples entitled to self-determination both living in security and freedom with neither people’s future purchased with the lives, rights or humanity of the other. That is why declaring “Zionism is racism” is not merely wrong, it tells most Jews that their understanding of their own history, identity and collective freedom is itself morally suspect. The Greens should ask themselves whom they are trying to please by adopting a slogan that turns Jewish self-determination into a moral stain. If your politics of inclusion requires millions of Jews to renounce a central part of their history and identity before they qualify for your solidarity, it isn’t inclusion. You are telling Jews: you may belong here but only if you disown Israel as the homeland of the Jewish people. That is not anti-racism. It is imposing a political test on Jews that no genuinely progressive movement would dream of imposing on any other minority.

Bizarre fact: In 1948, the Arabs who refused peace, had dragged Israel into a war with the goal of extermination the Jewish state, 1% of the Israeli population died on that war. If they reached a genocide death toll numbers while losing. Imagine the numbers if the Arabs won.

About 6,000 Arabs invaded Israel on October 7. In the 3 years since, about 4,000 were killed. Many people are unhappy at the slow pace of the hunt, but I rather enjoy the mental image of these bastards going through life, knowing any moment they may be plucked by an invisible hand from the sky. After years of scurrying about like rats, they finally crawl into the light and then... Well, sometimes, waiting for the boom is more satisfying than the boom itself.

The deputy leader of the Green Party heard that jihadist death squads were in the process of massacring over 1100 'infidels', raping women, incinerating entire families, and desecrating the corpses in the streets while shrieking 'allahu akhbar' and making phone calls saying stuff like, quote, 'Dad, you'll be so proud of how many jews I've killed!' He immediately took to social media, praised that atrocity as a 'fight back', then posted using the terrorist's codename for the attack in Arabic. He was promoted shortly afterwards to one of the most senior roles in the party, and now spends his life criticising the rest of the country for being racist, and hanging out at rallies surrounded by the flags of jihadist dictatorships. I can't quite put my finger on what it is, but there's something about those guys I don't trust.

I'm also a Zionist. All peoples deserve self determination, and the Jew's ancient homeland of Israel is non negotiable for me, no matter what a bunch of racist Greens say.
My name is Comrade Hedgehog, and I am a Zionist. That is all.

Yes, we underestimate how good UK train services are, especially the local services. The intercity ones are hampered by the fact that the lines (WCML, ECML etc) are operating at capacity, so any glitch has consequences for the rest fo the day.

Ticket prices are elsewhere here. Source for your cancellation numbers? Because I know France is 4% early timetable withdrawals, before 16:00 the previous day and 3% for last minute cancellations, after that cut-off.

Prices are not that much different unless you book the day before Each line: 30+ days ahead → one day ahead, €/100 km - UK, London–Birmingham: €10.0 → €46.5 - France, Paris–Marseille: €5.5 → €6.7 - Germany, Berlin–Hamburg: €9.4 → €20.6 - Italy, Rome–Milan: €12.6 → €23.1 - Spain, Madrid–Barcelona: €11.6 → €11.6

But it gets worse. Not only are they less punctual they get bigger average subsidy per journey too. No major country (and probably no minor country either) in Europe breaks even on Rail. Let alone makes a profit. Rail is an ineffective though politically fashionable money pit

Main asks why I didn't mention that state owned trains in Europe are on time more than private trains in the UK. Well, that's another great example of how wrong people are. For 2024 👇 - United Kingdom: 91.2% - France: 89.0% - Germany: 82.5% - Italy: 82.0% - Spain: 81.0%
many people just think the rivers shouldnt be filled with sewage. dont know what else to tell you🤷 and do you have a reason for omitting the actual difference between european trains and uk trains that people complain about- that european nationalised ones are on time
