That’s a wrap for FASEB Aneuploidy 2026! Thanks to all the attendees for making it a special meeting. The science was so out-of-this-world that NASA even launched a spaceship for us. 🚀
See you again in 2029! #ANESRC
The Ly Lab @CRI_UTSW is recruiting two #postdocs to study intercellular DNA transfer. Join us to tackle fundamental questions at the intersection of genome instability, cell-cell communication, and cancer evolution. Please share! 🙏

Proud milestone for our lab. Congrats to our first two graduate students, Lizz Maurais, PhD, and Justin Engel, PhD! @UTSWGradSchool
We also celebrated Lizz’s last day as she moves on to an exciting new adventure @biogen. Good luck Lizz!
Excited to share our latest paper, out today @CellCellPress. We found that large pieces of the human genome can transfer between cells upon direct contact, endowing recipient cells with heritable phenotypic changes. (1/7)

Congrats to Justin Engel (@JustinEngel17) on a wonderful PhD defense – the first student to graduate from our lab! We look forward to seeing more transformative science from you in the future! @UTSWCancerBio @UTSWGradSchool
Wishing farewell to the first member of our lab, Qing Hu, as she embarks on a new adventure in the Laboratory Genetics and Genomics fellowship program at UCLA. Good luck Qing!
Our very own Justin Engel (@JustinEngel17) received the 2025 Nominata Award, the highest honor for a grad student at @UTSWMedCenter. He also received the Kirkpatrick Prize, which is given to the student with the most meritorious NIH NRSA proposal. Congrats Justin!! @UTSWCancerBio
Happy holidays from the Ly Lab! Wishing all of your papers and proposals are met with fair and favorable reviews in 2025!
Excited to host @ericjoycelab (@PennGenetics @PennEpiInst) for our seminar series. UTSW folks, please join us today at noon to hear about how our genomes are organized and regulated! @UTSW_Pathology
We spent two days in the mountains discussing how cancer genomes become such a chaotic and rearranged mess. Thanks to the participants, my fellow co-organizers @isidrolauscher and Titia de Lange, and @ForbeckForums for bringing us together in Aspen, Colorado!
It’s been an exciting week of growth for the lab!
First, a warm welcome to Brittiny Dhital as she begins her postdoc journey with us. Second, our lab space has expanded into the adjacent room. Here is Brittiny breaking in the new space!
