Identical situation last week with Sheza Alibi returning 1.01 for the place in a pay 1-2 situation. The place percentage for the other runners (final) was 115%. So, 215% overall. SA real price must have been .80. So, with the 10-15% rebate, rebate bettors got 1.10 or 1.15, rank and file totally shafted with money back. Fixed odds was 1.10. Classic example of how regular punters actually just paid the 10% rebate to the whales. It’s a scandal but simply not one outlet remotely interested in exposing this rort.
Something interesting from The Everest on Saturday. The World Pool WIN market displayed on Sky just before the jump was 113.55%. The FINAL dividends produced a market of 121.38%. Ka Ying Rising remained at $1.04 throughout, but was his actual pool price considerably shorter than the minimum displayed dividend? Is this a consequence of rounding, late pool reconciliation, or something else? Whatever the explanation, that's a HUGE difference between the market punters were shown at the jump and the dividends ultimately declared. Would love to understand exactly what's happening here #TheGreatGame

2 weeks ago TAB launched One Pool in an attempt to grow liquidity in the pools, which has been declining due to the rise of fixed odds. Consolidation is a band aid, it won’t stop the bleeding. (1/9)🧵In this thread I’ll explain the best change TAB could make to save the tote.

How can anyone take anything away from that win of Tempted? No one thought the rail was a help. Hes ridden her upside down, hit the front very early. Headwall has got home just about every bit as good as KYR & 3WWC is hardly a huge negative at Randwick. Full credit to the mare!

Can anyone identify exactly how it was decided that Brisbane racing would always be conducted on soft ground? Just a mere one mil of rain last 24 hours but the track manager says “likely to stay in the soft range all day ,” even without the forecast possible seven mils of rain today. 🤷‍♂️

1. Our skeletons are wet. 2. Your nose is ALWAYS in your line of sight, but your brain ignores it. 3. When you receive a donated kidney, they don't take out the bad one. They just add the good one in. 4. Your immune system doesn't know you have eyes. Otherwise, it would attack them and make you blind. Injuring one eye can introduce eye bits to the bloodstream and basically give your immune system the knowledge of having eyes. Then it might decide it really fucking hates that and attack your non-injured eye. 5. The quality of the male sperm is responsible for morning sickness, preeclampsia, baby's gender and almost every single pregnancy related issue. 6. You breathe through one nostril at a time. Don't believe me? Put your finger below your nose and try. 7. The brain itself has no nerve endings, so it can't feel pain. That's why patients can be wide awake during brain surgery and made to perform certain actions. 8. That ringing in silence isn't silence. When everything is quiet and you hear a faint ringing? That's your brain listening to its own nervous system. You are hearing yourself functioning. 9. You will never experience your own death. You only experience approaching it... Then nothing. Everyone else gets closure, stories, funerals, and memories. You don't. You never know you've become a memory. From your perspective, the story just stops mid-sentence.
Tell me something about the human body i probably don’t know.

Wow. Back in 2017, Volkswagen’s CEO absolutely ridiculed Elon Musk and Tesla with a breathtaking level of arrogance, compounded by that typically German air of smug superiority. Here's a translation: "Well, I suppose I have to say a few words about Tesla. With all due respect, there are companies out there that are world champions at making grand announcements. I won't name names. There are companies that struggle to sell 80,000 cars a year. Volkswagen sold 11 million that year. Then there are companies like Volkswagen that generate €13 or €14 billion in annual profits. And if I'm correctly informed, Tesla is burning through hundreds of millions of euros every quarter, while firing employees whenever it feels like it. As for any sense of social responsibility, I'm not sure where that comes into the picture. So I would ask everyone to get a sense of perspective here and stop comparing apples with oranges." Nine years later, Volkswagen is heading for the scrapheap of history, while Elon is making cars fly.

Harness Racing bread and butter races are fine but at the top end there is a dire need for handicapping. Two group races at GP tonight, the last 7 races at Menangle tomorrow night all odds on favs, Leap To Fame 1.02 at Albion, & at Melton Captain’s at 1.14 and the Oaks fav $1.35

Who can remember the good olds days when you would make a hotel booking and then pay AS YOU WERE LEAVING, AFTER YOUR STAY, rather than six weeks in advance with no refund if you get run over in the meantime?

How often do you see an orchestra give a kid a standing ovation? How often do you see grown men cry? This is far and away the best I've ever heard this sung. The arrangement is exceptional. Way better than the original

Hey @Qantas and @JetstarAirways here's more pathetic customer service for you both... Force me to book on Jetstar that's ok, late notice and all, book with YOU.... QF issue booking reference and all flight details... Check in no issue for 730am flight Melbourne to Sydney TOMORROW... Done deal. Come home at 1030pm to be advised flight cancelled because of IR issues ( mind you it's security AT Sydney airport not Tullamarine).. replacement flight options YOU sent the best was, leave Melbourne at 10:30 am and fly via Gold Coast and arrive Sydney at 730 pm that day... Attempt to get better online at QF and JQ no luck. Call QF as JQ already told me online chat no no no must talk to original booking people. Ring wait online 35 minutes speak to person who trx to correct area, wait for 25 minutes... Meanwhile see flights on both QF and JQ on Friday available... Speak to helpful operator who CAN get me on midday QF flight on original day of travel...BUT I need to cancel my check in on original JQ flight first... Alas can't go that online because... Drum roll, it's a cancelled flight... Help bot as useless as TOAB must connect with operator, beaut time 37 minutes.... Amazingly Qantas operator has authority to rebook for Cheapest flight the NEXT day... Absolutely shit service!

JUST IN: Elon Musk unveils the Tesla Roadster by launching it off a ramp before the car flipped in midair and safely landed on the ground. The car is a collaboration between Tesla and SpaceX. One of the most insane things I've ever seen.

Current weather picture around Randwick. Heavy 8 now. Most showers look to have moved in off the coast so officials hoping for a reprieve over some period of time. Tracks handling rainfall well at this stage after only 22mm of rain today.

I get blown away every time I read this paragraph by Carl Jung, written in 1944: “People will do anything, no matter how absurd, to avoid facing their own souls. They will practice Indian yoga and all its exercises, observe a strict regimen or diet, learn theosophy by heart, or mechanically repeat mystic texts from the literature of the whole world—all because they cannot get on with themselves and have not the slightest faith that anything useful could ever come out of their own souls.”

Credit where credits due. Caulfield excellent on Sat. And brickbats where they are due. Today was an absolute embarrassment for any race club, but for a supposedly carnival meeting it was pathetic. Whoever is giving the track manager his riding instructions is a complete clown. It defies belief. Lucky dip for what you will get served up.

Without the Gr1 on the card, this Wednesday Caulfield meeting between Guineas and Cup day is now more nuisance value than anything else. Either run it on The Heath track or bring back the Thousand Guineas to the program.

Wow. That 8mls of irrigation overnight has had an effect on Caulfield. Lots of rubbish been thrown up around the turn. Cant we just race on a good track? Track was perfect on Sat. 🤷‍♂️
