Serious question for Ottawa Conservatives: why do you seem totally incapable of Premier Moe’s moral clarity, and defence of Canadian interests👇? In the face of a bizarre, empty threat by the President to move US potash sources from Canada to Belorusian “blood potash,” why was your first instinct to talk about the completely irrelevant industrial carbon tax??? It’s frankly embarrassing. Are you that focussed on the 5% of Canadians who have a high regard for Trump? For goodness sake, why does it seem so difficult for you to call out Trump’s threats and attacks on our country and economy???

I see some of my Conservative friends are trying to make this empty potash threat about Canada’s industrial carbon tax, rather than about the President trolling Canada.🤦‍♂️ It’s just embarrassing. I’m not a fan of that tax, but it is perfectly irrelevant to what’s going on here. 85% of US potash imports come from Canada *despite* the industrial carbon tax, because Canada is the lowest cost, most proximate, and most reliable supplier! US buyers would rather deal with our great producers, some of whom are vertically integrated through the whole US ag supply chain, than a distant tin pot dictatorship which has no potash available for sale! Skill testing question: would a farmer from North Dakota rather buy potash / fertilizer coming off a one hour rail shipment from friendly, reliable Saskatchewan right next door; or would he rather pay to transport it to Russian Baltic ports, then across the Atlantic, and then inland across North America? And that assumes Belorus has available supply, which it doesn’t! Even the dictator Lukashenko has called out the absurdity of today’s latest threat from the President. So why can’t the @CPC_HQ? To fellow Conservatives: why is it so difficult for you to call this for what it is? A ridiculous, empty threat by the President to continue his well established strategy of trying to divide and demoralize Canadians in the context of trade negotiations.
